Perhaps those of you who have been searching upon the Dorwin family from Vermont may be able to help me. From one source there was a marriage of Romeo Wadsworth Dorwin to Caroline B. Graves 27 Dec 1827, by Rev Alexander Lovell at Vergennes, Addison, VT. Romeo was from New Haven, VT. Somewhere, I have gotten the info that they had a son about 1831 of George W. Dorwin (the W standing for Wadsworth or Wordsworth). There is also info indicating a Romeo Dorwin married Ruth. One of their children, Mary Louisa Dorwin (b 1843 and d 7 Nov 1845) is burried in Evergreen Cem at New Haven Cem. My thoughts are that Romeo's first wife, Caroline, died prematurely, and Romeo married a second time to Ruth. Adding more to the puzzle, there is an account of Romeo Dorwin passing away at the City Hospital in San Francisco on April 15, 1851. The account states he was from VT, and that he had left a wife and two children back in VT. In the 1850 census for Castleton, Rutland, VT there is a listing for Ruth Dorwin (age 30) and two children Mary A.(age 3) and Ruth C. (age 8/12) living with the Charles Weaver family. I would guess that Romeo is her husband and he is away to California. In addition, the account about Romeo's death states that attending him was a grown son (name not given). In the 1860 census for Nevada there is a listing for Geo W. Dorwin born in VT and age 29. He is recently married and has a daughter by the name of Caroline. Would this child be named after George's deceased mother? The evidence continues like this: George had several children one of which was Frank R. C. Dorwin. The R stands for Romo and the C stands for Canfield. Did George name Frank after his father and perhaps his grandfather? Canfield Dorwin resided in New Haven, VT for many years. His wife was Electa Cook. Was Romeo Dorwin a son of Canfield (b 1784)? I estimate that Romeo Dorwin would need to have been born about 1805. But, he could have been the son of Philo Dorwin (1770-1851) who died in New Haven, VT. Can any of you help me with this? Thanks.
