Hi Shannon, Just a quick note before I go to work, then I'll put some info together for you this evening when I get home. But for now, I would like to respond to a few of your comments. First, you may find it of interest that it was your Lyman's great-grandfather Samuel (2) Darwin who took on the DORWIN spelling. In reality, whoever transcripted the court records was actually credited (or blamed) for doing so. Samuel's name was found mispelled in a record as D"o"rwin instead of Darwin, so that was the way his name remained from that time on. As for the names you mentioned - August and Anna Stoxen, and Stroup, they are not at all familiar to me, at least not right now. You may have the same problem I've been struggling with, finding something amongst great grannies keepsakes that does not tie in with any "known" relationships. (I have chased Byron McCLALLEN for years, looking for leads as to whether or not he connected to the family.) Personally, I think our ancestors had very close ties with friends and neighbors and they were like family to them, so they kept things about people dear to them.
Sila was the wife of Samuel (4) Dorwin, her maiden name was STONE. I have photos of all the Dorwin gravestones at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta, Wisconsin. I made a few trips there to do research. I have not been able to find any records for Sila's dates. As I said, I will get all the dates and names that I have to you later. Finally, as for my relationship, let me sum it up this way for now - your Lyman's brother Fayette was my ancestor. Fayette was my g-g-great-grandfather. Looking forward to exchanging info. I found your email address on this site, so I will be able to email you some of the data.
