Henry Herman Doscher

Any connections appreciated. We have hit a dead end. Henry Herman is a great grandfather. Birth date is 31 Aug 1856/57. From family interviews he was sent from Germany to the US in abt 1871 to avoid German draft. He stayed in the southern US with an anunt and uncle. No details on where or who. We think from Hanover area. Story goes that he returned to German but came back to the US. He worked in New York as a baker. I find a Heinrich immigrating on a ship in 1879 (right age) and a Heinrich living alone in New York (right age and a growcer) in 1880. The first time I find him for sure is in California records in 1882 when he married.

Hi, Laurie. Your grandfather also had another sister, Frieda, if you recall. I think grandpa's parents were Heinrich and Elizabeth (maybe Mary Elizabeth??) and I believe they once owned a grocery store in the Bergen County area. I know Great Grandma owned some apartment building(s) in Hackensack in later years.

Hi Donna:My grandfather Claus H.W.Doscher had a brother named martin,also believe he had another brother named walter.The doscher family plot where my grandfather and father are buried in is lutherb cemetry on Metropolitian ave in ridgewood.I think we have a connection here please let me know.regards Ken Doscher

I saw your message, the owner of the Doscher grocery stores is Johnny Doscher, he is related to my family. I think he is a first (?) cousin of my grandfather Jack M.

My father, John H. Doscher was born in Brooklyn on 21 Feb 1901. He lived for a time on Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn. I know he had a sister named Pearl. I know nothing further. Any assistance would be apreciated.

Hi Ken...

Just looked at another of your posts. Regarding the lutheran cemetary in Brooklyn. I remember my grandfather telling me that My great-grandfather Martin was buried there, so I guess he must have returned to NY after all.

Hi Linda:I'm not sure but I think one of my grandfathers brothers name was Walter along with a Martin,I know that Martin was born In Frelsdorf,Germany which is where my grandfather was born but don't have any info about a Walter but I do think there is a connection Lets see if we can't find out more about him,many thanks Ken

Hi Ken

The information I have on my Great Grandfather Martin is as follows:

I believe he had four children from his first marriage to a woman named Frederika (dont have her maiden name). After his first wife died he married my great grandmother Anna. My grandfather was born in 1906 and was named Fredrick (after Martin's first wife). I was told that Martin returned to Germany at some point with Anna just before WWII (not sure if that is accurate) but I do know that Anna died in Germany.

If you would like a lot information on ALL Doschers, there is a man named Bill Doscher in PA (I think Stroudsberg). He has an enormous family tree and tells me that all Doschers, no matter where they ended up in Germany, originated from Hamburg.

I spoke with him about five years ago and he gave me tons of information on my branch. He has all the branches numbered, but could not give me a copy of the tree because he said it would be too costly. It was through him that I found out the names of my Grandfathers 1/2 brothers and sisters. I believe one of them was named Wilhemina.

Doscher had a brother named Martin born abt 1851 in Frelsdorf,Germany.He died in November 1904 in Brooklyn,New York.He is buried at Middle Village Lutheran Cemetry in Queens,New York.Think this might help you if you need any more info I might be able to help you,please e-mail me

Hi Barbara:Your Martin Doscher B:1863 in Lintig,Germany does not match my Martin who was B:1851 in Frelsdorf,Germany Martin married a Fredericka in abt 1876 She died in 1904 in Brooklyn,New York.Martin remarried soon after her death to a Anna Buck she died November 1918 buried November 26th 1918 at Middle Village Lutheran Cemetry in Queens,New York Hope this helps you a little bit

had three brothers Martin born:1851,Henry born:1842 and Charles born:1839 I am not sure about Walter as yet still checking on it.The Doscher family has a burial plot in Lutheran All Faiths cemetry on Metropolitan Ave.in Ridgewood BrooklynTelephone number 1-718-821-1750/51Ask them for a list of internments for lot#7772 Map 4.That will help you get started.If I can help you any further please e-mail me and I will be glad to help you if I can

Hi Linda:I am so sorry that I haven't answered your message sooner but had a very serious medical problem with my wife who passed away 3 and half years ago from cancer.Re your great grandfather whose name was Claus,that was the name of my Grandfather his full name was Claus H.W. Doscher and was born about 1845 in a small farming town called Frelsdorf in Germany.So far I believe that he had atleast three brothers whose names were Martin born about 1851,Henry born about 1842 and Charles born about 1839.I have quite a bit of infomation about this side of the family,if it connects with your side would be glad to work out something to help you out.

you posted this almost a year ago, so I hope you will see this. Can you give more info. on your Doscher relatives? I think we may be related, I too married into the Doscher family and my husbands family was all over Graniteville, SC. Is dad John Christopher Doscher?
