Hi Brenda

I'm glad you got them. Karen would probably would love that.
Grandma Stone's grave is in Duncan,Ok-not in Crow Cemetery that was a mistake putting that in there. Her daughter is also buried there-I don't remember which one so I will look that up. I agree Nancy looks scared. Her mother Rachel allowed her to stay with her right after George's death but not the children.I believe that Neely Pryor was the Dosher's friend and took the children when he moved to Texas Co. Mo where John later met Mary Ethel. Bye for now-Mona

Hi, I did get those photos and THANK YOU so much, Mona for sending them. Last night I ran across this,1880 census Moniteau co,Mo Isaac Epps and Nancy 1823,Tn plus Nancy Epps died in Linn twp, age 62 years, but not really the location of her grave. That is not far from me. Maybe I can find her and Isaac for Karen. I really did not know what to expect, but Nancy looks afraid of the whole business of geting her photo taking. I will try to scan in what I have, wish me luck, Darlena

I can try to scan those in, I haven't scan before, I have a son who dose this, he will be home on friday, so if I can't, he will scan them, or I could mail you copies,I pay only a little for photos, and I could get photos of Septimus grave to send. Let me know, Darlena P.S. There is a story how I got Septimus grave photos.

pLUS I don,t know why Nancy would leave her children with Neely Pryor, I think he was some relation,I don,t believe it was bad health as she went on to have my Grandfather Joseph and another son Newton, plus daughters, Rebecca Epps Brizendine, and Susie Epps Climer. Then my Greatgrandfather Isaac had given his first two children, by his first wife Conneyann Cantrell, to his sister and her husband. THE children were Alexander Epps and Nancy Epps Brizendine. His sister was Rachael Epps BRizendine, that married Abner Brizendine. His daugter Nancy married Joel D. BRIZENDINE, i believe a nephew to Abner. Karen Epps Plant

For Asa Dosher (in NC Confederate service), Google or search for "Captain Galloway's coast guard company." A bit of his military service information can be found in a listing compiled by Mike Edge of Snow Hill, NC, in 1999, also on the Internet.

Susan- Thanks for the note back. My email address is dengels520@yahoo.com for more messages without having to go through the ancestry website. Phone is 206-550-3314. We know who the owners of the Asa Dosher house were in recent years, but are interested in how it came to be built, the first owners and family members that lived in it, what their life might have been like, pictures of the house at any point in its history, etc. The interior was remodelled extensively by the previous owners, so we are curious as to how it started out and what the family was like that brought it to life. It now has 5 bedrooms and 2 baths, one of them added by the owners before me. We have added an attached carriage house, but have not done anything in the main house but enjoy it as a residence since 2004. It is on the national register of historic homes, but is not listed on the Southport walking tour of historic homes, and has not been on the other Southport tours of homes (like the Christmas tours) that would have included the interior. But we would love to have one and all from the Dosher family visit to see it all in its present incarnation whether they can add anything to its story or not. It is a joy to live in and makes us feel as though we are part of the Dosher history even though we are not in the family. Please include it in your plans for one of your Wilmington visits soon. We are having to travel back and forth to Seattle lately to tend to an elderly mother, so let's be in touch before you plan to stop by to make sure that we are home. Best, Richard

Mr. Engels,
I'm not sure what type of information you are looking for on Asa Dosher. I am related to the family through a brother. I have been by the Asa Dosher house once. I live in Charleston, SC so Southport is not that far of a drive. I believe that Asa and/or siblings were ship builders and sailing type people. Please feel free to email me or call me at (843)766-1984 and I will answer what questions I can for you. Maybe next time I am in that area I can stop by and see the house. (I travel to Wilmington, NC often because my mother-in-law lives there). I hope to hear from you soon,

Susan Dosher-Cole

I have been the owner of the Asa Dosher house in Southport NC for the last 5 years; the house in the posting by Susan Dosher-Cole on June 24, 2008. The house is a delight, but there is little information at hand about Asa Dosher and his family, how the house came to be, and its early days. If Susan (or Andrew, the destination of her message, or anyone else with information) is still watching for Dosher happenings, I would love more background on the family whose house I now look after.
First of all, I know for a fact that there were two Adams in the family. The Adam you are speaking of is all true. His wife was Christine and they had a son Adam. He maqrried to Susannah Hadden and they had a daughter named Christina who married to John W. Lane in White co., Illinois. Their daughter Huldah was my Great Grandmother. Thats where the mixup came into play. 2 Adams not just one. Sorry for the mixup. At the time I stated that I was unaware of the 2nd Adam. This was given to me by the people of White Co. historical Society. I now have the documentation. Sorry Hope

I am a Doshier from this line. Is it true that Johann Daniel Dosher was told (along with other Germans from his town) that they could have everything if they came to America then sold as servants by the boat captain in Virgina. I located a very interesting letter on the internet if anyone hasn't seen it. I will try and attach it. Also I found a website that has Johann's parents and there parents plus location of Birth place in Germany. www.familytreelegends.com/trees/jomama/2/data/83
Very good information a lot of interesting things if you sift threw it.

They were the parents of my grandfather, Joesph Epps and several other children. I don't know too much, in fact i have never been able to find out where they are buried. My grandfather never talked about any family. I found out alot after my uncle Allen died several years ago, from an obit I found of his father's, sister , Nancy. My grandfather, Joseph, said in a newspaper article about him that he left mo., in 1890, the year his parents died. Would love to hear from you. Karen Epps Plant

Hi Jim, I am interested in your Dosier posting. My GGGrandfather John W. Lane married a Christina (could be Christena or Christine) in 1853. They had the following children: Mary E. who was the daughter of someone else (another previous wife of Johns), Nancy J., Susan Ann, Huldah (who was my Great Grandmother) and Dorinda. Do you know any of these names? I think and I say that with some doubt possibly that Christina may have been the daughter of Adam but I am not sure and would really like to know for my family book.
Hello Hope,
I suspect it is the same family. Your Christina may be the daughter of Adam Dosher, Jr. He married Savannah Hadden in White County Mar 13, 1820. I have not researched that line so am unable to provide you with any other information about them. Adam Jr. was the son of Adam and Christina Dosher and Adam was the son of Johann Daniel Dosher/Doser whose wife was Maria Elizabeth (last name unknown). He arrived in this country on the ship Nancy August 31, 1750. He married Maria Elizabeth in Berks Cty, PA and Adam Sr was born in Berks Cty October 24, 1759. Hope this helps you some.
