Marriage of Charles Moody to Bertha Doten 1906

Moody-Doten

Word has been received in Ocala of the marriage of Mr. Charles Moody and Miss Bertha Doten, of Charleston, South Carolina, which took place on Thursday February the first.

The marriage occurred at the home of the bride in Charleston and was witnessed by only a few of her intimate friends and relatives.

The young groom is an Ocala boy and is the son of Mrs. E. P. Moody. He is employed on the Atlantic Coast Line and runs between Jacksonville and Tampa. His Ocala friends will be interested in the announcement of his marriage and will extend best wishes and congratulations to him and his bride.

At present Mr. and Mrs. Moody are making their home in Jacksonville.

Death of Mr. Jay Doten in Cuba

Anyone interested in a copy of the U.S. Department of State's "Report of the Death of an American Citizen" for Mr. Jay Doten, please contact me so I can conduct research to locate the record. Mr. Doten died in Cuba on February 5, 1953.

Regarding "The Doty-Doten Family in America -- Descendants of Edwrd Doty, An Emigrant by the Mayflower, 1620" Compiled by Ethan Allen Doty and published in 1897

I have begun transcribing much of the information into a genealogy database program and then uploaded the data into a family tree on Rootsweb. To date, the job is about two-thirds done. While it is slow going, I intend to place the entire book into the family tree eventually. At that time, I'll make the entire tree downloadable to anyone who wants a copy so check back to see when the entire book has been done. The family tree can be viewed at:

Just one word of warning, be sure to check primary sources and also check PERSI to see if anyone has published any additions or corrections to that 1897 genealogy.

Charles Emery Doten was my grandfather. I am one of two daughters of Lee Emery Doten who was born in Livermore Falls (not New York) in 1902. Charles had a second son, Earl, who had two sons Robert Doten and Charles Wayne Doten. I happened upon your message when I was looking for Charles Wayne. You don't happen to know his address, do you?

Howard: There must have been more than one Stutely STAFFORD in VT. My Stutely b.08Nov1758 moved from RI to Readsboro, VT or Guilford, VT around 1776.
He had a son named Stutely STAFFORD b.08Feb1778

Hi the info you seek is Quite hard to find but if you look into plymouth massachuttes arcives the family split up Edward Doty was on the Mayflower he had five sons and the name changed to Doten in plymouth i realy dont know why but what ive read there was a big fight in the family and things in the family have changed i followed the name doty to england where that name is still kept email me any time as this could get interesting ......Thanks

Hi i might have the info you seek sorry its not in my possession but its in my family.E-mail me My great grand father was a Charles but his dad was an Edward up the line my grand father is Edward my dads an Edward and my brother is an Edward i think its quite an interestering Tree my uncle did a family search and has most of the info and traced it back to england

Does anyone have information on the parents of Polly Doten who married Shubel Hier in Monkton VT ca 1811? She may have married a Burrill before she married Shubel Hier or she May have been born a Burrill and married a Doten for her first husband. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

My gg grmother Mathewson =born Harriet Doty 1816 in Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT
Harriet's grpa Doty Ormond Doty, SR. His sister Rebecca a widow married 2nd Stutely Stafford = their dau. Nancy was Harriet's mother. ie. ==Harriet was her own 2nd cousin.

Their may be a common ancestor way back when.
in the 1600's. All I was doing was making you aware that you may have better luck with your query by using the Doty board =since Doten and Doty are the same family name.

Info on Charles Emery Doten

I have been researching Charles for over a year. He was born about 1872 in Livermore,Maine, to Zury Robinson Doten Ellen Bryant. He was married twice, the first time to Mary Margaret Wakefield, the 2nd time to Laura Buker. I know of only one child-a son, Lee, born in New York in 1902.
Please help me find any info. Thanks!!

I am also building a family tree. My grandmother Josephine MORTON ( married Willie D. DANIELS) had a sister named Ellen DOTEN. She was born in 1905 (not sure where) & died in TN. in 1990. In my grandmother's obituary it said that Ellen lived in Michigan at the time ( that was 1976). I know that she was living in TN in the late 1980's because I spoke with her. I am looking for any information on Ellen Doten or Charles Phelan. I building a family tree and have hit a brick wall. My grandmother Betty was born on 04-13-1926 to Charles Phelan and Ellen Doten, they put her up for adoption. I am just trying to continue my family tree.
