Hello - Aida (Ida) Carabelli was my paternal great grandmother, although not as a Dotta. The family history I have is as follows:

Aida Carabelli was born in 1867 and was from Porto di Ceresio, on the Swiss border. She married Benigno Carlo Guiseppe Dotta who died c1890 in America where they had come for their honeymoon. They had no children. Subsequently, on 2/21/1891 Aida ("Ida" Carabelli Dotta) married my maternal great grandfather, Vitaliano LoPrest from Palermo, Sicily, who had immigrated to the US. They lived in New York (at 347 East 33rd Street) and subsequently moved to Walnut Creek, California (they had a grocery store in Berkeley CA) where they died within 48 hours of each other, Ida on 1/30/1934 and Vitaliano on 2/1/1934.

They had 6 children: Lillian, Frank, Vitaliano Paul, Antonino, Aida and Frances Emaline LoPrest. Frances was my paternal grandmother. Lillian married a Joseph Franciscono; Frank - a banker in New York - married a Clara (maiden name unknown); when Frank died, his younger brother Vitaliano Paul - a policeman in Brooklyn - married his widow Clara; Antonino was a civil engineer and founded the A.C. LoPrest Water Company in San Francisco; and Aida married COL Paul H. Brown, US Army. All - to my knowledge (I only personally knew Antonino and Aida) have passed on.

I have photos of various members of the Carabelli family, including the family home in Porto de Ceresio.

I would appreciate any information relating to Carlo Dotta and/or Aida Carabelli Dotta LoPrest.

Thank you,
