I will be forever grateful to you. We of the Montreal Lagaces have never been in contact with the Doucets. And yes, Adelard was my grandfather!
I have Arthur Lagace in my database as married to an Elsie Margaret Bateman.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Evelyn in Montreal

Yes, it is 'your' Elizabeth. The name of the deceased on the registration is "Lagacé Mrs Joseph (née Elizabeth Doucet)". The person who reported it was her son, Adelard, which I believe was your direct ancestor.

I am researching Adelard's brother, Joseph Arthur's family tree so the Legacy/Doucet lines are the same. I found your website which has your email, so I will send a copy of the death to you.

Hope this helps,
Janice

My grandfathers mother, was Matilda Domitille Doucette, whose father was Amedee Doucet, mother was Louise Arsenault. I have found VERY conflicting information on the family trees here on ancestry. Honestly, the line just seems completely goofed up.

I need help in locating the CORRECT information on her brothers & sisters and in obtaining the correct DOB & DOD for Amedee and Louise.

Thanks!
Megan

I have their marriage 4 Mar 1851 at St. Polycarpe, Petit-Rocher, Gloucester, New Brunswick, Canada. Unfortunately, their parents were not listed. Also, several of their children were baptized at St. Polycarpe.

I have Alexandre Doucet back several generations if you are interested.

Hope this helps,
Janice

I am trying to prove that the Sophique Doucet who married Joseph Poirier/Perry c1839, possibly in Miscouche, PEI, is the same Sophique who is listed in the Doucet Family site as born in 1818 to Francois Doucet and Marie-Julie Buote who married in PEI 15 Sep 1815 (Ancestry.com Acadie Drouin records). She was aged 62 in the 1881 PEI census. Also, among her children was Julie and Francois, her supposed parents names. It would be great if I could find a baptism or connect with someone who knows this line.

Bud Dorr
Casco, Maine

Thank you so very much for your assistance.
I'm sorry if I didn't repeat my question clearly in the body of the text. What I am looking for is more information about the parents of Elizabeth Doucet.
I have seen from Elizabeth's marriage record that Elizabeth's parents are Alexander Doucet and Mary Doucet (but I believe Doucet is Mary's married name)and that she was born in Beresford.
According to the census (which I know may be wrong) Elizabeth Doucet was born in 1872.
I seem to have found her parents living next to her in the 1901 census (as you did) however I have not been able to CONNECT ELIZABETH AND HER PARENTS TO A SPECIFIC Doucet LINE IN THE BERESFORD AREA.
If you are familiar with the region you'll know that there are numerous Elizabeths born in the area in the appropriate time period, but I haven't found a birth for an Elizabeth to an Alexander near the 1870 date.
Thanks again for the help,
Evelyn in Montreal

Hello--

Thank you for your post. I can't make a direct connection with your John, Laura, and Oliver, but I have several John Bushes and one Oliver Bush in my tree (bush?) and also have the Orleans County and Michigan locales, not to mention inter-marrying cousins.

Does your history perchance trace the Bush name back to French Huguenots by the name of Beson who arrived in Staten Island in 1716?

Cheers.
Hi Jim, I am soooo sorry I thought i had all of this set up to come straight to my e mail account... No, the information i had give you was incorrect! Catherine Doucet was married to my ggg grandfaher Jarvais Robisheau.. He is the father to Peter aka Pierre Robicheau. Sorry for taking so long on this i will most definatly ck my settings... I now have most of the information and doument for Peter except i just learned he was married twice.. his second wife was Rose Frotain, on the novascotiaonline site,of course that was her married name. She was the daughter of Forman Muse and Ann Doucet born about 1862. Her first husband was Mark M Frautent in the 1901 census and Marc Frottin in the 1911 census... On the marriage record it looked like she had written Frotten as her married name.
Pierre and Rose were married June 14, 1926... I have not found a death date for her yet but did find Peter's He died April 10, 1937. I am looking now for an obit or where he was laid to rest... Oh he died in Argyle Mun, Yarmouth and had been living in QUinan

James Doucet(Doucette) and Rose Ann Arseneau of New Brunswick

I am looking for death dates for James Doucette and his wife Rosie or Rose Ann Arseneau. Rose was born about 1869 and died in Tomahawk, Wisconsin(Lincoln County) James was born about 1869 in NB Canada and also died in Tomahawk Wisconsin. I have written to the Wisconsin Vital Statistics dept but I need to narrow down the date of deaths which I believe are between 1931 and 1945. The last record I see of them is the 1930 Census in Lincoln County Wisconsin. Their children are listed as Priscilla, Alfred, Mary, Joseph and Rose. If anyone has any information on dates of deaths or obituaries for James and Rose please email me at dlk59@cox.net. James' French Canadian name may have been Jacques Francious Doucet. I would like to obtain the death certificate but need a closer date of death.

Thanks in advance.

Don Karnish

Hi Lowell
Thank you for the reply.
Here is what I have.
What I "THINK"
Peter(Pierre) Doucet born Aug 5/1831 (up in the air as I have him in the 1901 census as 66 so born in 1835) ,in Bathurst, Gloucester,NB. Died 1881in Bathurst. (although this is questionable as I think that I have him in the 1901 census)
He married Mary Pitre Nov 21 1854 in Ste Famille, Bathurst. or Magdeleine Hache Nov 4/1850 although not likely if born in 1935. No children .

What I am fairly sure of. from The 1901 census
Peter (Pierre) doucett born Jan 11/1835
Wife was Margeret (Maggie) doucet (maiden name was also Doucet) bornAug 18 /1841 Children are
The 1881 census have Peter Doucett as 50 and Maggie as 40.
The 1881 have the children as
George 20,
Margeret 18
Henry 16
Minnie 13
Ellen 10
Teressa 8
Joseph 6
Peter 1
The 1901 census has children as
Maggie Jr b. Mar 1/1863
Joe b. Nov 18 /1875 his wife Emily b. Sept. 15/1879
Peter b. mar. 1/1879
Frank (Francis (this is my Grandfather) b. May 1/1883
Felix b. jun. 1/1885

Other than Frank who is my Grandfather I do not have any more information on anyone.
I note that someone has added some information on Joseph on Darlene's Genelalogy Pages.
I supplied the oringinal info to Darlene and I'm not sure who added the info on Joseph
It has Joseph married to Emma(Emily) Lavigne and a son Hubert b. Dec. 21 1906. This certainly fits with the 1901 census info.
If you have any info that will help me it would be appreciated.
Dave

I was suprgramps103@aol.com, but I have since changed it to civie1@hotmail.com. Who was Olivier Doucet married to ? Was it
Marie-Madeleine Devault ( Deveau) by any chance ?
I can't seem to find Catherine Doucet. Please help me as I would love to add her and her family to my Doucet Tree. Jim

germain doucet dit Laverdure did not die in Port Royal. He was kicked out of Canada by the British in 1654 and sent back to France where he remained, leaving his adult children in Canada to carry on the line - my husband is another descendant
