Hello! The James Doucette and Mary I wrote about would be an older bunch but most likely offspring as I have come across James and Mary Robinson. The other is a Hawley.
we are still researching the MicMaq connection as there are two variations of the story but no concrete proof either way.
I have managed to find kin for "jack" living here in Ontario which is kind of neat! Especially for Jacks children who had no family to speak of!
:)
+I will go through my notes and see if I can find what I have on "your" James and Mary and get back to you!

Cheers!
Sheryl

I know who John Simon Doucette was and also Margaret Bonvie. They were our grandparents. They divorced years ago and we lost track of John because we were very young and he returned to Cape Breton. He returned to Halifax and died in 1963 at the Camp Hill Hospital. We would like to learn more about the life our grandfather lived. If you are his granddaughter we are related. Drop us a line. Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.
Hello,

I am researching my great grandmother Dorothy Doucette. Her daughter was Jacqueline Donalds (my grandmother) whom she gave up for adoption. Dorothy had a brother named Gerald and a sister named Francine. We think she may have been born around 1906 (give or take 10 years).

I was told that we are part MicMac. If anyone knows about a possible connection with the MicMac tribe and the Doucette family that would be wonderful.

Thank you for your time,
Rachael Donalds

William Doucette, Tusket, Yarmouth, NS 1837 - ?
I am looking for information on William Doucette (also seen as Jean Guillaume Doucett)who was born around 1837 and lived in Tusket with his wife Lydia LeBlanc (also seen as Marie Lydia White). They were married in Eel Brook in the early 1850's and are found in the 1881 and 1891 Tusket census.

I suspect that William is the son of Andre/Andrew Doucette (b. abt. 1806) and his wife Anna (Hannah) Moulenson (b. abt. 1814), both found living next door to William in the 1881 census. Other unsourced research has him as the son of Augustin Doucet (b. 1780) and his wife Marguerite LeBlanc (b. 1795)with a wife Ludivine LeBlanc, but I don't see how this could be the William and Lydia I am looking for. I could not find any evidence in the online database.

If anyone has access to Doucette records for Tusket, I would appreciate a look. I am hoping that William's marriage record in the early 1850's or his death record between 1891 and 1901 would identify his parents.

Re: Doucette's of Prince Edward Island, Canada

Hi. I know that I'm writing this post several years after many of you have started this thread, which I am truly grateful and thankful for, but I wanted to make a post as well.

I'm looking for my birth mother. She gave birth to me on November 6, 1969 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The reason I say "birth mother" is because four months after she gave birth to me, I was adopted. For many years, I have had a burning curiousity to know more about where I'm from, and a little about family history.

The only information that I know is statistical information from my adoption papers:
- Her name is Dorleen Doucette.
- She was 16 years old in 1969, making her about 54-55 years old now (in 2008).
- She was 4 four foot eleven inches at age 16.
- She's from a farming family, and the youngest of sixteen chidren.

That's the only information that I know. The father's name was not identified on the birth records, so I don't have any information.

I'm wondering if someone can point me into the right direction.

Thanks,
James

Edgar Doucet (Doucette) pronounced Edguard

I am looking for the origin and ancestors of Edgar Doucet (Doucette), pronounced Edguard. No one knows where or when he arrived in Louisiana, but he settled, reside and later died in St. Tammany Parish, La.

We were told he was a Schooner Captain who owned and operated several schooners up and down the East Coast, mainly Louisiana and Tennessee, transporting goods for local markets. He was a tall, slender, well-dressed gentleman with a heavy accent. It was told that he was an honest but shroud businessman, and may have left a will and other important document, but when he became ill, locals (crooked lawyers and statesmen) took advantage of his ill health and swindled him out of some of his land and belongings.

It was estimated that Edgar was born around 1847. He may have been married several times; in 1908 to Selina (Selcia ?), in 1912 to Sedonia (Sidonia Ducre), in 1917 to Selazie Guillotte and, date unknown, to Elizabeth McZeal (Maxile) b 1860-1818, from Lafayette/Scott La. We’re not sure if this is the same Edgar Doucet (Doucette), but we are more than eager to find out. Any information (i.e.: immigration papers, wills, birth certificates, deeds, ship list, crew list, port lists, naturalization records, etc) you can provide would be beneficial.

I am searching for my greatgrandfather's roots in "French Canada." His name was John H. Germain (unclear whether the St. was dropped, when or why), born ca. 1855. He migrated to New York in 1869, married Emma Walker from Lee in 1875. They produced four children from 1876 to 1896: Wilfred/Wilford A., Harry B., Maud(e), and Ernest S. He and Emma lived variously in Olean, NY, Lynn, and Somerville, MA. Any possibility of a link here with John H. Germain? Thank you for your help.

Hello! I have been following some of the various threads on this site..I posted this one the other day on another thread that was quite old...Hoping someone can help!
THank you! Please feel free to contact me if you want more info.

I am doing the ancestry for my boyfriends family..it hasn't been easy as his father John Vincent Doucette or "Jack" was indentured to Daniel A MacIsaac at 2 yrs of age and raised MacIsaac til 20. His twin was raised by MacDonalds in Maryland. His parents were Effie May Hill and John? M.Doucett, and his parents John Doucette and Jane Brewer. ( According to the baptismal certificate that we have and then teh marriage of John and Effie through the archives where both his and her parents were listed)
We then come to James Doucette and Mary. and I am still researching from there. But it would not surprise me if it's the same line as my Hugh turns blacker, than black come summer, and we have long suspected some MicMac influence esp as you say so many Micmac are Doucettes.
Let me know if anyone has info on this lineage as I am working with a baptismal for Jack dated two yrs after the fact, a Marriage certificate I found online through the archives, and that's about it.
