I love living in Des Moines because the first question I get asked is "Are you related to Mamie Eisenhower?. My father was born in Oskaloosa. When his mom married William Treat Doud, he took his name. William's parents were John and Fannie (Golden) Doud. John's parents were Jeremiah and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Doud. Jeremiah and Catherine came here from Ireland and I believe they were from County Kerry. I have one brother of Jeremiah's, Morris, who came over and married another Irish immigrant, Ellen, in New York. There is a Stanford Doud ancestry from around the Montezuma area that I have not found any connection to. Let me check because one of my ancestral lines settled in the Winterset area and I need to find the records for which one.
