My roommate is also a DOUD from Iowa - the Winterset/Greenfield area (Madison, Adair, Guthrie Counties). Her immigrant ancester is Patrick DOUD, from County Roscommon. He came over sometime in the early 1850s, through the Port of Philadelphia, but we have no idea who his parents or siblings are. He married Bridget NOONE in Cincinnati in 1856. We can't find any connection with the DOUDs of the town of Douds, IA (have you guys checked their history?), nor Mamie DOUD, although, since she came from Boone (Boone County), we always hoped she was related somehow. We haven't had any luck finding her genealogy either, but it's got to be out there somewhere. Is anyone out there close enough to check with the Mamie D Eisenhower Birthplace people? (We're stuck in NJ right now.)
We have some transcripts of the DOUD Family Reunions held in our neck of the woods; would anyone be interested in copies to check for possible relations? They were pretty good sized, and we haven't connected all the dotted lines on who belongs to whom yet.
