I am trying to find information on June Douthwaite who lived in Blackpool, England, from 1930 - 1950. She lived in South Shore.

My Gandmother Sarah Douthwaite married George Fox in Ludlow Shropshire in 1913 Her father was James Douthwaite and her mother was Mary Jane Richardson although I have traced them back to Temple Douthwaite in Hovingham I fear I have been barking up the wrong tree!as Mary Jane was recorded a widow in the 1901 census but James was on the birth certificate of his daughter Florence May Douthwaite in 1904 but recorded as deceased on Sarah Douthwaites Marriage certificate in 1913 I cant find a record of his death / marriage and having difficulty connecting him to the Yorkshire Douthwaites any ideas?

I have Douthwaite's in my family also from yorkshire my grandma was a Douthwaite but her family's ancestors are from Seaton Ross are they linked at all to your Douthwaites??? thanks Debz

I presume you have an answer to your question by now, but just in case, Alexandre and his brother Gustave were quite famous local photoraphers in Pont Audemer. The local post card collectors salon did an expo on them and their photos of local residents this past weekend. They are buried in St Ouen cemetary after being arrested (and killed? I'm presuming here) by the Germans...Mail me if you want more info as its all quite fascintating. I live nearby...

Sorry but I dont think your George is the same as mine. My man was born in Hovingham, Yorkshire in 1820. His parents were Thomas and Mary. Happy hunting!

I am also researching the Douthwaite family. My earliest ancestor is a George Douthwaite, gentleman of North Otterington near Thirsk but can't find his baptism which should be around 1734. I think there may be a connection to Hovingham.

I have seen you have a lot of family info for Douthwaites around the North York Moors (Malton etc.). I've managed to trace my part of the family tree to Hutton (I think Sheriff Hutton) near Malton. Here's some info that might help link our families.

Thomas Douthwaite (b. approx 1778) married Ann Harrison (b approx 1777)- do not have marriage date. They had a child called John Douthwaite born 1813 in Sheriff Hutton.

Thomas Douthwaite (1778) was the son of another Thomas Douthwaite (b. approx 1751) and unknown mother.

Ann Harrison (1777) was the daughter of John Harrison (b. approx 1750) and Jane but I do not have a maiden name.

I hope this helps in some way to trace the trees back.

Dear Linda that is great news, Mary married a George Towse and had a daughter Elizabeth she married a Joseph Winship and he was my g/grandfather.

Yes they are the same Douthwaites ! George and Ann had 2 children before Mary Hannah..the first being Robert who is my husband's great great grandfather. I have compiled a tree going back to apprx. 1704 so if i can help in any way please contact me...Linda Munt

Their children

Henry b1842

They were all born in Cawton.
Mary Douthwaite married a George Towse ( Tows) in Malton in 1856.
Is this the same Douthwaite's please.

I have since found my father Robert Terrance Douthwaite born 4/07/41. His Father was Charles Edward Douthwaite. I know nothing about him, and my father does not know anything about him either.

Charles Edward was married to Eileen St Quinton in 1902. I do not know anything about Charles Edward Douthwaite, my Grandfather, if anyone has any suggestions i would be very happy to hear them.

Dont know if there`s any connection but I`m fairly sure there were Douthwaites who had a business in the Bedale Market Place probably late 1800`s.

Contact me if you need to know more. We are issuing a book on Bedale for launch later this year and i`m sure i`ve seen this name somewhere. It sticks out because Outhwaites were big in the town and i remember querying the Douthwaite name.

We are going to Devon for a few days tomorrow but when I get back I'll start your copy of the Douthwaites tree (as it is so far !!) Dear Jan...we've had a hectic few months (one of daughters got married and holidays etc.) but now I'm back working on the family history ! I recently hand wrote a tree showing the connections between my husband Nigel, Gladys,Yvonne Tarren and you.I sent a copy to Gladys and one to Yvonne. There will be gaps but also quite a lot of info'.I've worked out that you and gladys are 9th cousins, you and nigel's Mum Irene are 9th cousins.You and Nigel are 10th cousins. Your great,great,great grandmother Mary Douthwaite was the Sister of Nigel's great great great great grandfather John Douthwaite. John and Mary's parents were John Douthwaite (c 10 Sept.1738 ) and Sarah Scrafton .They were married in 1768. John's father was William Douthwaite but I don't yet have a date of birth for him.
