Our ancestor, William Dove, was a silk weaver of Bethnal Green. At aged 22, he was on trial for poaching at Mile End Old Town (Bethnal Green) in 1828. He was aquitted but was back the next year for a similar offence and transported to Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). We think he had a brother, Samuel. He had a wife, who we think was R. Wood, and a child. Was protestant and could read and write.
