Hello I have some info on Eugene Amos Dovell He is the brother to my great grandmother Elizabeth Eva Jane Dovell. He was the second oldest to De Lafayette Dovell and Louise Elizabeth Long. This birth record is from a 1900 census record could never find the real birth date Amos was born March of 1874 in Rockingham, Virginia. He married first Bertha (Birdie) beaver 1898-99 in Navarro CO, Texas. He then Married Mary Smith or mason 1915-19 Harris CO, Texas. He passed away 1960 Roger Mills, Oklahoma.
Here is a few stories one that has been told through my family. My grandfather Elbert Ladd worked for Amos Dovell had to be around 1912-14. one day Amos told Elbert im going to go visit my sister Elizabeth do you wont to tag along Elbert said sure. well when they arrived a young girl got Elbert's attention it happen to be Elizabeth Dovell's daughter Louise Roberts I was told she was to young so the courted for awhile. they got married in 1915. So if it wasn't for Amos inviting my grandfather with him he would of never met my grandmother.
The second story I found on the web. On an occasion in 1901, Birdie's husband Amos and her father George Beaver got into an argument. Amos shot George with what was evidently a small caliber pistol. The wound did not appear serious and George did not seek medical attention. Predictably, gangrene set in and George died of the infection a few days later. Amos was exonerated by the authorities apparently on grounds of self-defense. However, the incident did destroy the relationship between Birdie and her mother.Following this, Birdie and Amos disappeared and all trace has been lost.
