I grew up just a few miles from Shawneetown, in a small town called Carmi, Illinois. I am working with a few other relatives right now updating the Downen Family Tree to have it ready for the Downen reunion in July 2011. What a job! I noticed that we do not have Kay Hilas Downen or his family in the data base. It would be a shame to leave anyone out of the family tree. email me with your family information and who your husband's father an grandfather was so I can locate you.
