DOWNS, Thomas H., age 59, peacefully entered into Heaven on January 9, 1999, at his home in Shoreview (MN). Owner of Wybrite and Ham Lake Lanes, from which he retired in 1997. Tom loved and was proud of his employees, many of whom he worked with for several years. A steadfast leader, Tom was also a quiet teacher of integrity, generosity and love of his fellow man.
He was preceded in death by son, David; brothers, Bob and Bill; and his parents. He is survived by loving wife, Linda; children, Randy Sandeno, Greg (Trina) Sandeno, Patrick Downs of NY, Todd (Mickey) Downs, Terri (Greg) Phillippi, Leah (Karl) Lutz; brothers, John (Betty) and Max (Marge); sisters, Louise and Grace (Doug); 8 grandchildren; many other relatives and good friends.
Heartfelt thanks is extended to Dr. Stephen Mann of the HHH Cancer Center, nursing staff of Two West at Unity Hospital and the staff at Fairview University Medical Center.
Tom loved his family and friends and was a good friend in return. He will be remembered as a caring, generous man who loved life. Even in his valiant struggle with cancer, he remained his peaceful and gentle self. You have taught us well, Tom. We will miss and love you always.
Funeral service 10AM, Tuesday, January 12 at FRIDLEY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 680 Mississippi St. NE, FRIDLEY (MN), (612) 571-1526. Visitation 5-8 PM, Monday evening at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 6210 NE Hwy 65, FRIDLEY, and in church, Tuesday, 1 hour prior to service. Interment 3:30 PM, Tuesday, Tillinghast Cemetery, Sampson, WI.
