Arthur Fredrick Doy came from Shernbourne England to canada in 1912. I have attached family history from newspaper stating he is son of Harry doy and one of 4 children including brothers: john, Harry, walter, G.W.

Hi! I'm having a terrible time trying to locate the DOY family that links into my tree. The only info I have is on a wedding certificate. Georgina DOY married my great uncle Charles Aloftus Perkins on 18 May 1902 at Christ Church, Old Kent Road, Peckham/Camberwell. She was 22 at the time so was born in 1880 (unless she lied about her age). Her address at the time of her marriage is listed as 4 Hatcham Road, Peckham. Her father is listed as George DOY, Deceased, Fish Salesman. One of the witnesses on the wedding certificate is Jane F DOY. I have looked in every census, all the BMD records and cannot pinpoint who this particular DOY family is. Can anyone help? Does anyone recognise the names or dates? Would be very grateful for any pointers!

I am a Doy and my family came from Norfolk where they were mainly labourers on the railways. Many males had the unusual christian name of Money. They were located round Gateley, and Fakenham areas and probably widespread. I did hear years ago that they came over with the Hugeonots.

Gosh it was a long time since I posted this message. I have found a little bit more since then. My GGrandmother was Tabitha Doy who married Frank Sleight. Her parents were Charles Doy and Anne Gray from Norfolk, he was a weaver but apparently times were bad and so they came to Rotherham to work in the iron mills. Charles also had a son Charles who married Mary from Ecclesfield. Please get in touch and maybe we could swop information.

I have Tanswell connections in Hull and just wondered if there might be a link.
Edward Simpkins Tanswell married Maryann, they had Robert Edward b.1880 Hull also David b. 1883.
Robert E. married Madelina and had several daughters and David married ? Leedham and had sons David, Frank George & Arthur also daughters.

My ancestors where also called Doys. The first three where knigts in the Netherlands (the first in the year 1200. If you have a connection in your familietree to the Netherlands or Germany its not impossible that whe have the same roots.

I am researching the descendants of Charles Doy bap 1805 in East Rudham, Norfolk. He married Susannah Mary Tipple in 1825. I think Charles' father may have been Charles Doy bap 1767 but am not sure.

I am a Doy from France. We have a family tree since 1536. Our family in 18 century, was living in Switzerland and because of the situation lot of them went to Germany or England to find a better place for living.

My GGrandmother (born 1860ish)was Tabitha Doy from Rotherham in Yorkshire, England. Having not heard of the name before I would be interested in the meaning if anyone know this, + any information as Doys seem rather thin on the ground in Rotherham.

I am researching Tanswell, in the Shropshire and Staffordshire areas of England, U.K. Most particularly, James Rowland Tanswell m. Sarah Louisa Parry June quarter, 1869. I believe there were at least two children, a daughter named Sarah Louisa, and a son, Harry D. I note you are researching Doy, but however, I thought you might have researched Tanswell also.

I am a Doy from Suffolk UK, We traced our line back to the 16th century when we were kicked out of France at Bolougne.
We arrived at Rye in Sussex and eventually made our way to E.Anglia. There are a few Doys in Dereham, Kings Lynn and Lowestoft areas.

Please understand I AM NOT ON THE INTERNET, I must go to a library. Now my question is this: I am researching the events in Kansas in the summer of 1860 when Charles Doy was killed along with Henry Waffle. Henry's son Harvey was wounded at the time. Henry was killed first and Harvey was wounded by the linch mob. Charles and Harvey got away and were sought out at the Waffles house. Charles was helping Peggy Jane with the burial of Henry when the mob set upon them. Charles did what he could but in the end ran, meeting up with another part of the mob, and was shot in the knee. One of the Waffle children gave him crackers and water. The mob returned and tryed to force Charles to talk, then backed away and fired many rifle bullets into him. Harvey and Peggy Jane were warned out and they returned to NY. Harvey has living desendants and an I have their story. I have reason to believe that the two families may have corrosponded after the events. Now I would like to talk with you or your parents about your families side in this adventure. The two were murdered by a mob. Please call me on the phone 716 374 8044. Any Doy family member who can help are welcome to call. What did Charles and Henry do to deserve summary excutition. It seems that the town was thankful and rested easy after the killing.
