HAMBLIN, LaRae "Joyce" - 70, Halifax, passed away with courage and grace after a valiant battle with cancer on February 4, 2004, the in Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Wesley Doyle, Halifax; daughters, Tracy McLellan, Victoria, B.C.; Wendy Hamblin, LaHave; sons, Eric Hamblin, Halifax; Skip Hamblin, Halifax. Joyce was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to travel. She attended bingo weekly. She was employed for many years at the Halifax Westin Hotel, formerly the CN Hotel. Upon retirement, she worked as a crossing guard for Astral Drive Elementary School where she loved, and was loved, by all the children whose safety she ensured. She was always the life of the party and kept her wonderful sense of humour and great wit until the end. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 9, in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Memorial donations may be made to QEII Palliative Care Unit. The family wish to extend many thanks to Dr. Jim Bentley and the staff and volunteers of the QEII Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care, compassion and support.
