George DRACE(TRACE)& Family

Hi All,

Below is the Cemetery record of my ggggGrandfather. There are 3 generations listed. I have been researching this line on and off for 28 yrs.

West Greentree Brethren Cemetery, Mount Joy Twp., Lancaster County, PA

Jacob DRACE(Son of George DRACE/TRACE)

George DRACE 3/2/1867(?)-4/2/1874, Aged 7y 1m, Son of Jacob and Catharine DRACE
Catharine DRACE d. 3/19/1915, Aged 90y, Wife of Jacob DRACE

George DRACE/TRACE(I have him in records as DRACE and TRACE)

George DRACE 11/7/1803-9/15/1879, Aged 76y

Elizabeth DRACE d. 12/6/????(George's wife)

Some history on this line. The above George "DRACE" TRACE is responsible for 7 generations of TRACE's(perhaps more on other lines - the 7th generation including myself). This George first appears in Franklin Co., Pa. in 1828 with an indenture(transcribed by me)in tax record from 1828(same county), in Census records 1840, 1850 and 1860 as TRACE and DRACE, Land records with same surnames. Sometime between 1860 and 1870 removed to Lancaster Co. Pa. and passed on there. My thinking is George was from Mt. Joy Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. removed to Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., Pa. sometime between 1822 - 1828. In 1832 he sold improved land Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., Pa. by 1840 removed to Guilford Twp., Franklin Co., Pa. Remained there till sometime after 1860. Sometime between 1860 and 1870 removed to Mt. Joy, Lancaster Co., Pa. where some of his family are buried.

Looking through the census records the earliest TRACE/DRACE I find is Jacob TRACE in 1800. He is in 1800, 1820, 1830, and 1840. In 1830 there is a John and Samuel on same page as Jacob.

Any info on this line would be greatly appreciated!

George Drace of Franklin County, Pa.

Hi All,

I have info back 4 generations of the "Pa Trace's"(specifically the franklin co. Pa. Trace's)
This is what I have(abreviated):

John Andrew Trace m. Harriet Grace Moats
They had 12 kids. Harriet passed away and John remarried A Helen(her last name is in
previous post).

John's father was Edward Lincoln Trace m. Clara Peters(I have some info suggesting that
Clara's name may be Anna Clara Peters from Adams Co, Pa.). It's not clear how many
children they had. My second cousin says 5 I saw a pedigree with 3 other names besides
the ones my second cousin has!

Edward's father was John A. Trace m. Charlotte Stoner. The interesting thing here is John's
name was Drace prior to becoming Trace. In a MS word document I recieved of the 1850
and 1860 Census' of franklin county, Pa. John is listed as Drace and in 1870 Census is listed as Trace. and
what's real weird is there are like 6 kids listed and only one of the names my second cousin
has listed and 4 other names.

John A. Trace's father is listed as George and Mom is Elizabeth(Per my second cousins findings). George is listed in 1850 Census(um Franklin Co, Pa)as Drace. However in the 1860 Census George is listed as Trace. Oh in hindsight with that census data is another son of George's his name is Jacob Drace.

From some searching I found that Drees, Dreese, Dress, and a couple other variations are pronouced Drace. My Question is does anybody have a George Drace from Pa in there Family Tree and might know of his parents!?

Sincerely,
Doug Trace

P.S. If you would like to contact me directly I'm at zephylus@myself.com And thanks for your time and reply.
