I have some information on Viola Drage; she was married to my cousin Norman Leroy "Bud" Brower. He died June 5, 1975. Viola died November 26, 2009, Camarillo, Ventura, California. Her obituary is on the Internet, but I don't know how to get a copy.
There is a picture of her in high school yearbook that is also on Internet.
I hope this will help you.
Sincerely,
Clarice Courneya

Hi John,
Im currently at work in the offshore for the next 5 weeks and ill have to check my records but it may take a bit of time as the last compilment i had of my tree was lost due to a computer problem and ive had to start again, so ill get back to you on that confirmation. Cheers,

PS A book was written by Sue White titled "Beyond Envy" The Thomas and Jane Drage story, which tells of my ancestors forced immigration to Australia by the crown lol. So this book may hold the answer for you. She and I met on this site so she may be found on a search of her name or you could google the name of the book.

Regards

Matthew James Drage

I have three hand written drage lines(which I was given many years ago) going back to early 1700's two of which I am descended from My great grandfather in one and my great grandmother in one -they were both drages. I believe though it is hard to go back father because of the fire in Boeat around 1729.

Hi, I don't know if you've got this by now; but...is this the James Drage, mentioned in the will of Thomas Partridge, taylor of Bozeat who died 1771. The executor was his daughter Sarah wife of Thomas Drage who married 1745 & they had Thomas 1750, Frances 1747, Elizabeth 1753 & James 1756. The will names James as his grandson & he will get house #2 where John Horn lives.

I suspect grandfather Thomas married Frances Steward at Strixton in 1714 & when she died in 1740 he married Prudence Blan.

Get back to me if you want more ... I am trying to establish a link of the Partridge line from Bozeat to
Sharnbrook, Beds which is my line.

regards John Partridge Bedford

Ok, so this is getting so frustrating. I really dislike brick walls when it comes to this family. I'm looking for my great grandfather's siblings. John Benjamin Drage & William George.

I know that John Benjamin came to the US, and settled in California. My great grandfather settled in Chicago, via Toronto, Canada. I have no clue as to where William George went... Very frustrating.

Their parents are listed as John Drage & Isabella Cane. All are listed in St. Lukes parish, Hoxton possibly, and London?

Need a bit of help please.
And does anyone know about the British/England's "Royal Fusiliers?"

Thank you,
Kimberley Page, nee. Isaac 1863. Charles 1866, Martha 1866. Arthur 1878. Hope that helps a bit. Also know that Arthur born 1878 married Mary Ellen Drage born 1913, daughter of Andrew. Only have childrens names of Andrew, which is the direct line of my husband.

Good luck
Willemine

OK Sharon,

It is always useful to hear about new Drage family members, even if they don't link into my family. There are not that many of us about and, as someone pointed out, there is a good chance we are all related somewhere down the line!

Hello Sharon,

I do have an Elizabeth Drage in my tree that may be your Elizabeth, however I don't have too many details and the age may not quite suit yours!

My Elizabeth Drage was born in Bozeat, Northamptonshire in 1743 and was the sister of my 5 times great grandfather. If she is your Elizabeth, that would have made her 44 when she married.

If your Elizabeth Drage had children I would imagine that that would discount my Elizabeth, as at the time that would have been extremely late for having children.

I do have aother Elizabeth, that was born around that time, but she was born in 1777, so would only have been 10 years old at the time of your weeding in 1787.

regards
David

since posting my last message i have learnt a bit more. william and florence had 10 children but not all together. we think that william had charles before he married florence and she 'inherited' 2 sons from a previous marriage who werent hers, that was sonny and wilfred. the oldest girl 'Babs' , i think may have been their first child together, also ethel, winifred, madge, Ivan , allan and dorothy (Doss). Doss is the only one still alive and i visited her with my brother a month ago in chester. she has a son malcolm and had another son colin who died in the 1960s. florence was married 3 times the first husband died after only a couple of months and she remarried a man called 'London'. this is where sonny and wilf came from as he was a widower and then he died so florence took them on. when she met william he had a son (charlie) and i think maybe another son but not sure about that. when she and william married, all the childred (10) took the Drage name. hope this is of some help. my email address is susyshoes@hotmail.co.uk if you have any more information as i have now cancelled my Ancestry.co,.uk subscription so wont receive any more messages

Hi I have three seperate trees(sometimes slightly connected) all going back to begining of 18th century. One starting with Henry Drage married to Elizabeth Savage in 1739, the second starting with Thomas Drage married to Sarah Partridge in 1745 and the third starting with a Michael Drage married to Mary Hooton in 1727. Unfortunatley around that time there was the "great fire of Bozeat"-story has it a lady set her frying pan on fire-which burnt the church and consequently all records, it is therefore difficult to connect these three trees. I have also read in a book about Bozeat-unfortunatley I can't find book- that before a certain date in 17th century-I think around 1660 there were no Drage in Bozeat and yet by late 18th century something like 75% of village were Drage.
