I'm sorry, I don't have anyone by the name of Frank Draskovich in my family. That's not saying that I won't find him some where down the road of searching.

Yes, the name is spelled Dras^kovic' in the old country. My grandfather Nick added the "h" to his name when he came here to America.

My family came from Gruda, not to far from Dubrovnik in the Konovale area. That is in the southern part of Croatia. From the pictures I've seen of the area it is a beautiful there.

Are you aware that Croatia was part of the Hungarian-Austrian Empire? When your grandfather was born the area may have been called Hungary. These boarders have changed so many times over the years.

I suggest you join the CROATIA-L@rootsweb.com. You may beable to find the information you are looking for there. I have found this site quite interesting and informative, especially about the Croatian culture. Another site is croatia-in-english.com. On this site si information that teaches how to interpret Croatian information, including pictures of Croatians that immigrated to America.

I hope this helps you. Good luck with your research. I'll be glad to share with you if I find anything.

I am looking for the family of my grandfather Nick DRASKOVICH. He came to US in 1904 to work in the Copper Mines in Bisbee, Arizona. My grandmother, Zorka SUNARA followed him here in 1905. They were married in Bisbee. They had two children: Katherine (Kate) and Mitchell (Michael), my father. The family moved to Los Angeles, California about 1909. After Nick died in 1912, Zorka married Steve JUKA and had 2 more children: George and Ana. Zorka died in childbirth between 1916 and 1922.
