Otto Dravis was my Great Grandfather. He had at least two sons, Neil & Richard. I'll need to check with my father on how many children Otto had.

Richard J. Dravis died last February (2005). Him & his wife Arlene had six children.

From what I was told when I was younger, Otto came to the states with a brother. I believe they were saddle makers. I was told the other brother went west, but I don't know his name.
Hi - My family is from Johnstown, PA. I'm just starting to trace back my family tree. My father (David Dravis) was born in Johnstown in 1948, his father Neal Dravis married to Helen Lux, must have decended from Otto since I think I'm related to all of the Dravis' in Johnstown, PA. If anyone has detailed out the family tree for Otto Dravis I'd be very interested to see it.

My cousin told me that the spelling was originally Drewes. I don't know about any other spellings. I have been researching the last name all over the internet and could find nothing. About a year ago, I found a website about someone named Valentino or something. Someone in his family married into the Dravis family and the tree ended with my grandfather.

So far, the only consistant things I can find about the Dravis name are that it origninated in Germany and was changed when the family moved to North America. Does anyone know any more information about this lost family?

H.D.

Hi Kaye. I started to write a minute ago, and it all disappeared when my finger slipped. If you got 1/2 a message, sorry. Anyways we're cousins. My Grandma was Ethel Schmidt, Cloyd's sister. I knew my great uncle Cloyd (we called him Mike) and Aunt Nelly, and remember visiting them in Randsburg when I was a kid. They ran a small cafe.

A while ago I called one of his sons. Don't remember if it was Mike (we knew as Junior) or Norm or Robert (Bob) I get them mixed up, and don't have all the stuff in front right now. He told me he'd heard the original family name was Dryfus (Lots of possible spellings) but it got changed when they came over from Germany.

Write me at the above e-mail, I have a bunch more info and pictures you might be interested in. Look forward to hearing from you. Tom Moore, Rialto Calif. 909 874-6109

Hi Sue
Thanks for the reply--I don't think the Dravis you have is related to me; however, I
need to do a lot more research. I have over two years doing this and have reached a dead
end. Thanks again
Gladys
