I am descended from Henry Dreisbach, 1735-1808 through his son, Jacob Dreisbach. Would like to make contact with Dreisbach descendants of this family. In 2010, there will be a Dreisbach Family Homecoming in the greater Philadelphia area. We will be "featuring" Bucks County Henry sites, and would like to include as many descendants in the activities as possible. More information on the activities will be posted, so watch for more details as time goes on. Carol

hi from wittgenstein/germany

Hello, Im Katharina Dreisbach, I just recently came to know that there are Dreisbachs in the USA and even yearly family reunions. its so interesting and also a bit strange for me that -according to what I read- the first recorded dreisbach immigrant came from Balde, a small village only 15 min from my village (Birkelbach) in this rural region which is quite remote (but Germany is small,so it only takes 2 and a half hours by train to Frankfurt from here).
I just wanted to say, IF SOMEONE ONE DAY TRAVELS TO WITTGENSTEIN to visit the place of his/her ancestors, I WOULD LOVE TO GUIDE this person(s) around and offer a place to stay in my parents home (though I cannot promise 100% for sure cause from time to time Im abroad). Its a calm and quite beautiful wooded region with a castle and some old churches.
Im also LOOKING FOR A PENFRIEND, preferably snail mail, between 20 and 30 (Im 24) with the name Dreisbach or similar.

The murder of Emanuel Dreisbach of Ohio circa 1864

Mr. Emanuel Dreisbach, an old and weathly citizen of Amanda township in Fairfield County, was engaged in hauling wheat to his threshing machine, leaving down a gap, through which a cow, belonging to John Corder, entered, when Mr. Dreisbach directed one of his boys to drive her out, but not to set the dog on her. This, however, was not followed, and the dog drove her out, but not injuring her. Corder seeing this, had some words with one of the hands, and then proceeded to a Mr. Young's and borrowed a gun, saying he wanted to shoot some squirrels. He then went to Mr. Dreisbach's barn yard, when Mr. D. requested him not to shoot the dog, promising to pay all damages the cow might have received, the reply was "G-d d-n you , I will kill you" whereupon he raised the rifle and shot Mr. D. in the left side, under the lung. He survived about eight hours. The deed was done in the presence of two or three of Mr. D's children, and the men at the threshing machine. Corder fled, and had not been taken at the last accounts. He was a tenant of Mr. D's and had received many favors at his hands. This was a most foul, cold-blooded murder.

I am looking for information on John H. Dreisbach. He married my grandfathers sister Abigial Van Meter in Camden, NJ about 1922. They had 4 children that I know about Edna 1924, James 1929, Dorothy and Ann. They lived in Camden, NJ before moving to Pennsylvania. My dad remembers them living on a farm in Pennsylvania. John died sometime in the 1950's? I have family information and pictures to share. Thank you.

Nancy Van Meter Carroll.

All family crests and coats of arms associated with the Dreisbach family name

Hello Dreisbachs,
I am trying to do research on our last name. I am mostly interested in the heraldry associated with our name. I have found the oldest coat of arms (the blue shield with the two gold bars) and then there's the red shield with the white stag's head carboched. Does anyone know of any others? It is my limited understanding that in Middle Ages Germany, one did not have to be nobility to have a family crest so there could be a few more out there. If anyone has any information at all or any ideas of where and how I can narrow this search it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Martin John Dreisbach JR.

Sophia Eyer Dreisbach

I'm hoping that one of you may be able to help me out. I've been researching my family for some time and have always believed that Sophia Eyer Dreisbach (dau of Rev. John and Fannie (Eyer) married Eli Loose and had Sophia (Loose). And that that Sophia married Jacob Rosenberger 5 jun 1859. Sophia and Jacob would be my GGG grandparents. I just recently purchased the Dreisbach book and found it has Sophia (Loose) marrying John Kemerling. With no mention of a Rosenberger. I suppose it is possible to have 2 Sophia (Looses) around the same Ohio area, but I was wondering if anyone has run across this or could help me in some way. Thanks in advance.

Stacy Smith Chavez

The Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

ADAM DREISBACH, Magdalena Arner, c1798-____, West Penn, Schuylkill, PA.

ANNA MARIA DREISBACH, Jacob Arner, 1789-1838, Towamensing; Franklin; Carbon, PA.

You are almost certainly descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia). For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner which documents the Arner/Aner family to the 1500s, or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.
Could Driess, Drais, Drace, Treese, etc be shorthand?

Just wondering if my Peter Drais, or any of a dozen other spellings, may have shortened his name? He immigrated to Philadelphia @1730-1740, and was a leather dresser, tanner, etc by trade. He was born in Germany. I know name changes were common, and we haven't been able to get any further back than said Peter. Would appreciate input.
