Drescher- Germany to Wisconsin

Hi I am doing research for my cousin and am therefore looking for any further information on a family of Dreschers that lived in Sauk Co., Wisconsin. Paul T. Drescher was born 20 Nov 1881 in Germany and immigrated in 1883 (according to census recs) and his parents were Gottlieb Drescher and Minnie Kuhnau.

I don't know any further information on the parents than this and was wondering if anyone else knows anything.

Paul T. married Marie Brilliott and had several children, one being LaVetta Drescher (1919-2001) whose husband was William Ignatius Hurley.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jade Schmitt

Dreschers in Butzbach and Horinghausen, Germany 1700's and 1800's.

I have just entered all of my DRESCHER names onto the
family tree software that I have been using. All of the
information that I have on my Dreschers came from some
documents from some pages that were copied from a book in
Horinghausen, Germany. they were sent to me by a fellow
researcher who was researching the BERGHOFERS and she found
that they had married into the DRESCHER line several times.

My earliest DRESCHER: Jost Henrich DRESCHER was born Abt.
1704 and married Anna Elisabeth GRAF on June 04, 1738 in
Horinghausen, Germany. If, you think that you are related
to my Dreschers in Horinghausen, Germany and Marion County,
Missouri in the townships of Palmyra and Warren please
e-mail me with your DRESCHER information and I will check
your info against mine and see if we have a connection.

All of the above surenames are connected to my
DRESCHERS through marriages in Horinghausen, Germany or
Marion County, MO. I have about 150 DRESCHERS listed on
my DRESCHER Family Tree, there is always room for more.

Trying to find some info on Arley Drescher, son of Elizabeth Drescher from Hocking County, Ohio. The last I found was the 1920 census when he was 39 living with his mother. He married Martha Goff in 1923 after his mother died in 1922. I don't think she was married when he was born. His mother married a Gardner in 1893. Thanks.

The Orner/Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

AUGUSTUS DRESCHER, Rose E. Orner, 1873-1943, Franklin, Adams, PA.

You are almost certainly descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia). For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner which documents the Arner/Aner family to the 1500s, or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.

I found a newspaper article in a letter sent by my great-aunt to her husband during World War I that details an interesting and dangerous situation Paul Drescher found himself in. Paul was a saloon-keeper in Lorain, Ohio and displayed pictures of the Kaiser and the royal German family in his place of business. I would be happy to send this article to a family member free of charge.

I believe Clara Jones Drescher's mother married a Hetzler after Clara was born. Mary Belle Hetzler McMurphy I always knew her as Aunt Mae. She raised my grandmother Irene after Clara and Fred died. My grandmother was married at her home in Muscatine, Iowa . The following is her announcement that was in the Muscatine paper.
PRETTY MORNING WEDDING IS SOLEMNIZED AT MC MURPHY HOME
A pretty morning wedding ceremony was solemnized at the Home of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. McMurphy, 1619 Mulberry avenue at nine o'clock this morning when their niece Miss Irene Drescher, who has been making her home with the couple, was united in marriage with Walter E. Sheetz, the son of John Sheetz of near Wilton.
The wedding ceremony was performed promptly at 9 o'clock, the Rev. George Blagg, pastor of the First Methodist church of this city officiating. The single ring ceremony was used. The couple was unattended, but little Miss Thelma McMurphy, a cousin of the bride served as ring bearer .During the speaking of the vows and immediately afterward Miss Flora J Manlove offered the two selections "love Song" from Cadman and wedding march from "Snow White" by Bendel.
The bride wore a becoming gown of white beaded georgette crepe, with ruffled tunic. Her ornaments were a diamond pin, a gift from the groom and a string of pearl beads. She carried a large bouquet of white rosebuds and sweet peas in shower arrangement. Her traveling suit was of merinque trimmed with black fur, while her hat and other accessories corresponded.
Later in the morning a wedding breakfast was serve. The couple left at 3:46 this afternoon for Quincy, where they will visit several days. They will be at home to friends after February 1 on a farm near Wilton. Dated 12-9-1919. I would like to verify this connection and find family.

I am trying to find out more about August F. Drescher, born Oct. 1822 in PA. He died in Webster Co., NE, having lived most of his life in Swan City, Saline Co., NE. He was an early homesteader, having arrived there about 1864. He had at least 10 children, born in IA, ILL, and NE: Josephine (my relative),August, Rebecca, Mary, Thomas L., William H., Laura J., Francis, Albert, and Frederick. His wife was Sarah Ann. She died in 1899 in NE and August died sometime after 1900. Any connections would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Lynnette Frost at rlf@email.byu.edu
