Transcription of German script:
Katharina Dresen.

Translation to English:
Katharina Dresen.
On Friday of last week, April 15, Katharina, the wife of Mr. Wilhelm [William] Dresen, died after a long and painful suffering. The deceased, whose maiden name was Rotzer [Rötzer / Roetzer] was born on October 18, 1838, in Trobersdorf [correction: Trobelsdorf] in the district court of Waldmuenchen in Bavaria, Palatinate. In 1872 she came to America. She married the first time to Alois [correction: Daniel] Brückl [Brueckl], and the family lived in a farm in Franklin [Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin]. About 17 years ago, Mr. Brückel [Brückl] was on the way home from church and was killed by a horse and found a sudden death.

On May 15, 1899, she was married to Mr. Wilhelm [William] Dresen. Senior. She was a faithful wife and good homemaker, and for the children of his first marriage, a second mother. She was highly respected from all who met her, and her death is sincerely regretted by the same.

She was stricken with cancer of the breast and had to undergo a surgery. This went well, and all had hoped for healing and recovery, but cancer returned and a second operation was performed. The blood was filled with the toxic substances already, so that no operation helped. She prevailed slowly along, until death released her from suffering. She reached the age of 65 years, 10 months and 27 days.

The burial took place on Monday at the local Catholic cemetery. The turnout was very large, especially from Franklin, which showed the high esteem she held from her former homeland.

Note: Katharina's first husband was Daniel Brückl, not Alois Brückl. Daniel died On August 22, 1887:
