My husband's father Roderic died in 2005, and his mother died this year. His dad would have loved this ancestry.com, but I got into it just last year. I have a few pictures on my tree.

The Dressels had tons of kids each. There are a lot in Minnesota for sure and then up in Canada one branch. My husband's grandfather was Leonard Dressel. His great grandfather was Herman.

Are any DRESSELs reading this list descendants of Edwin DRESSEL and Maude McGINTY? Edwin was born in South Dakota in 1885, but was in Washington in 1920 and 1930. He and Maude had 3 sons, Robert (1910), Fredrick (1913), and Edwin Jr. (1915).

Andrew and Ursula had a son August born July 18 1864 at Presiech/Presuch Bavaria (Bayern) Germany.

Not sure what year they came to Canada/USA.

August of Plainfield New Jersey went on to marry on March 27th 1908 Wilhelmine (Minnie) Riehl of Ellice Township Perth County Ontario Canada. How they met is unknown.

August and Minnie eventually moved to Cape May, NJ

We've found my Dressel family roots back to George Dressel, born about 1840 or so, Frankfurt, Germany. His father is Mathias Dressel, all per my cousin Barbara. We don't know anymore about siblings and older family members yet.

You both list your Dressel roots much farther back. I can't help but ask if you found a connection to my ancestors above?

Per my cousin Barbara, she has most of the information for George's wives & children, etc., here in the US but Germany information is lacking. George emigrated about 1855 or so and fought in the Civil War for either NY or PA, if that helps you.

I would be glad to share any of our information with you both if you feel there is a connection here and would like it.

Have you found or do you know the father, grandfather &/or brothers of your ancestor John (Johann) Casper Dressel?

My ggrandfather, George Mathias (born abt 1840) and his father, Mathias, lived in or near Frankfurt. George was born abt 1840, came to Bronx, NY, USA and fought in the Civil War, etc.

We don't know yet of George's siblings or more of his parents.

As we find more info and if that would be of interest to you, I will pass it on to you.

Geyer, Dressel, and Eichorn are names in our Geyer family from Giessubel Germany (Saxony Meiningen) now Thuringia near Eisfeld. Some lived in Masserburg also. I will check my notes for a link. Our Geyer family setteled in the Village of Logonton Pennsylvania Clinton Co. August Geyer left Germany via Hamburg 1852 on the Ship Oder.
