John C. Dresser, Civil War Soldier from New Hampshire

I am looking info on John C. Dresser who was in the New Hampshire 2nd Infantry during the Civil War. The 1890 Veterans Schedule for Franklin, NH, lists my g-g-grandmother, Augusta Johnson Newton, as being a widow of him. But we never knew she was married to anyone of that name. Any leads that link these two will be very helpful.
