Not sure about the royal family connection but i have Drury in my ancestry too.
The story goes that 2 brothers joined the Bristish Army in WWI and the recruiting sargeant mis-spelled the surname as DREWERY on one of the brothers' enlistment papers - he didn't find out (or realise) until after the war but decided not to change it.

I apparently have family that emigrated to Canada a couple of generations back so give me a shout if you want a look at my tree :)

Ani x

Drewry, Drewery, Drury - Yorkshire to Canada

My Drewry's are from Yorkshire, the spelling I have found was Drury while they were there, but when they went to Ontario, Canada it became, Drewry:

Drewry, Drury, Drewery (Apr 05) Yorkshire (County, Yorks, England)
Looking for information on this family which some or all of them migrated to Ontario, Canada in the early 1800's possibly around 1845. The husbands name was John Drury (my 3rd great grandfather) and his wife Anne Broder. They had 10 children: Elizabeth; Ann; Mary; John; Hannah; William (my 2nd great grandfather); James; Martha; George; and Esther. After this generation I have quite a bit of information, but it stops here. Any help would truly be appreciated! The last spelling of the last name was changed to Drewry when they became citizens of Canada; we believe there was a mistake made on the immigration papers. This is just a tale that has been passed through the generations. Thank you ahead of time for any help. Sincerely, Beverly

I really don't have much to go on for the Drewery family. I know my 2nd great grandfather's name was John Drewery, and he lived sometime in Louisville, then in Alabama somewhere. I'd like to know if you have anything about him that I could use. Maybe his birthdate, parent's names, middle name, etc. I know he had at least three wives. Also, I notice your last name is Smith. I am also kin to two different lines of Smith. Anyway, I hope this gets you and you can give me more information. Thanks.

Trey J.
