Emmanuel Rodriguez was one of the first established negros in the new world. Rodriguez became Driggers. Actually if you look up Emmanuel Rodriguez Driggers (on any Internet search engine) you'll find all kinds of interesting stuff on him -- more than I've been able to find on any other family members.

My grandfather is Edward Duane Oxley, and Leanner was his grandmother. He only remembers seeing her once -- she was very old and laying in bed. I'll see what other info I've got.

Shayna

Lynn
last we spoke was 3/25/12, and we are home now from our mission work.

working in my tree and wondering where you stand on your search..
it has been quite while you started, and what you were looking for.
What progress have you made?
What did your find out and what are you still looking for?

This last year I took a DNA test, and that proved to be
quite an eye opener. It was tracing the Male line for me, which is the HUFF.
Anecdotes and Oral records are fine, but nothing quite like the scientific information
and you get to see others who you don't know, but they have been looking for you, this figure they are hardly aware of.

As a Female Driggers Family line, you would be following you mother's line , but also your Family Finder, and your father's line.
it will check on all the family which flow into yours. Simple.. takes a mouth swarb.
Ever think about going that route..
not all that expensive for what it gives you

I have Drucilla's father as being Isaac driggers. I was told this from a family member. also that Isaac was a pioner and married an indian but her name was not mentioned in the letter a received. This Driggers stuff is so confussing. i think that Drucilla had a daughter named Louiza who married Joseph Dinkins Stewart sr. Josheph is my gggrandfather. i also read where Drucilla inherited a lot of land from her mom or maybe both. I think the Stewarts had a good bit of land in pike co at one time.

I am still working to document my Henry Parker being related or not to the Driggers family. I know now that the ydna Parker line from Johnston county North Carolina came from the same area that the N.C > S.C.Driggers family did. By the ydna my Henry Parker was related to the Johnston co. N.C. Parkers.
I was very interested to see that this Thomas Parker was married to Mary Ann Driggers but the time frame is off for my understanding this. I was reading some of Steven Pony Hill's research on a Thomas Parker who was reported to be living with the Catawba Nation in S.C. The time frame is earlier for this Thomas Parker I think. probably around 1760, just not sure. He was a trader with the Indians in that area. Do you have any data for Mark Driggers and Amy Driggers? Was Amy in Marlboro co. S.C. a biological Driggers or wife of a Driggers? Thank you

Re: Holland Driggers

I am not related to Holland Driggers, but this thread was interesting and I was curious about this family and decided to see what I could find: First I found Holand Dridgers, wife and 2 sons in the 1910 census, Hebron page 6A. Next, I found Hallan Dridgers in the 1920 census in Marion County, SC. He is with his wife and 2 sons. Next, I found Minnie Driggers' death record for 1 February 1942 in Florence, SC. She was a widow so I looked for Holland in the death records starting with 1942 going backwards to 1920 (because he was enumerated in that census) and BINGO! Holland Driggers died 15 April 1920 in Florence, SC. Unfortunately, the Florence newspapers on Ancestry do not go as far as 1920. But I was able to view an obituary for Minnie Driggers in the "Florence Morning News" 2 February 1942, front page (it is hard to read). Thank you for a fun challenge.

Frances Sweat who married Jack (J.A.) Driggers 1870 Marlboro County SC

Anyone heard of Frances aka Francis aka Fannie Sweat (b. 1855) who married a Jack (J.A.) Driggers (b. 1848) in Marlboro County SC in 1870? This is a white family who lived in the McColl/Red Bluff area of Marlboro County. Believe Frances/Fannie's father was named Warren aka Wark Sweat and her mother was Margaret Sweat.

The 1910 census has Fannie living with 2 of her children in Red Hill and says she is widowed.

I am still trying to match JD Driggers to mine but so far I haven't been able to do it. I am in the Samson Alabama area,

JD Driggers is my great great grandfather. My grandfather was Johnny Fletcher Driggers and is buried in Evergreen Cemetary in Elba, Alabama next to his parents. Many of the Johnny Driggers family still live it the Elba Alabama area. My Dad was Howard Earl Driggers, but everyone called him Sam. He is buried at Hillcrest cemetery in Elba. My Unlce Bill Driggers lives in Elba and might be able to help you or my brother Mickey Driggers also lives there.

If you have ever been to Beaverdam Cemetery you know how beautiful it is. My Dad re worked JD's grave marker some time in the 80's to "repair" it. One of the last times I saw my Dad we went to Beaverdam to see the grave.

Good luck.

Where are you?

Hi, I am new to this and have been researching my Driggers roots and haven't been able to find much that I can connect with. My grandfather was Arnie M. Driggers, I never knew my ggrandfather, but my ggrandmother was a Groover. There were many siblings of my grandfather, but these are the ones I remember: Zebie, Naomi, Rosalee and Ann. There were several boys who died in wars. Is anyone out there familiar with this line of Driggers?

The daughter's name is also found phonetically spelled differently, what I wouldn't give for a birth certificate for her.

I'm in the process of acquiring a marriage license from the verified source physically for a couple by this name married in 1855.
