My mother in law just remembered that Thomas' family came from Ireland by the way of Quebec, Canada but she did not know who his parents were or if he was the first of her line born in the US. She did not know if his parents or grandparents are the ones that immigrated to New York.

Looking for info on Thomas Driscoll b.New York City, lived in Tacoma, WA in 1920 census. Wife was Sylvia Shelley from Indiana. Looking specifically for Thomas because he was said to have left Sylvia and his son in Washington. I am trying to find him after 1920 and before. This is the only census I have found him in. My GGrand father, John Driscoll, may be from near Bandon/Timoleague in Cork. Immigrated 1850. RR worker and farmer. Married Elizabeth Judge at or near Scranton Pa in 1854. Settle near Gilberts Ill (Kane County) Died 1900. Does anyone know a story where two cousins arrive in NYC, are separated immediately, never find one and other, but search without out end until they die? John never found his nameless cousin but I took up the quest some time ago also without success. Any help will be appreciated.

You asked for information about the wife of Paul Provencher of Houghton, MI quite some time ago. This will probably be old news to you, but his wife was Mary Driscoll (as you guessed) and they had 4 daughters: Lizie, Annie, Irene and Helen. Jennie Provencher, aka Jennie Hutton, aka Jennie Driscoll was actually the daugher of Mary's sister, Bridget Driscoll. Mary's parents were Florence Driscoll, a copper miner born 1832 in Allihies, Cork, Ireland imigrating in 1857, and her mother was Hannah Mullins born 1848 in Cork, Ireland, immigrated in 1865. The parents had 13 children of which Mary was the 2nd child and the oldest daughter.

my great great great grandad was Cornelius O'Driscoll, born in Cork Ireland who married Jane Hawkins, also born the same place. their son Joseph was Driscoll, had the O' prefex dropped. some people say, that in the 1940's when a lot of the Irish emigrated they didnt use the o's,and i does seem they way. however, why?

Researching my family has shown that they chopped and changed from O'Driscoll to Driscoll in the 1890s and early 1900s. It was only after leaving Ireland and living in Manchester in England for several years that the O'Driscoll became permanent. This was probably to appease anti-Irish feeling and to be able to get work. I'd be lost without my O on my name. It makes me very proud.

I have a Cornelius Driscol B 1816 in Ireland but Seems he went from Mass. to Ontario. Was in Dundas On. till 1870 or so and he and most of his Kids came to N.D. in the 1880 era. If this fits let me know. Cornelius's father was Daniel

I have been searching for a great great granny Johanna Driscoll born in London c 1850 and found an 1851 census record of a Mary Driscoll, a fruit seller, her son Jeremiah both born in Clonakilty and her daughter Johanna born in London. Mary appears at this stage to be a widow.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the family who must have left Ireland in the late 1840's

Hello James is my grandfather.
died in 1945, born worked for Eagle Newspaper, Carbery fair as accountant.
Married Margaret Fitzpatrick. Died 1945 as well.
His brothers had a shop/house in North St, Skib.
One, Patrick, may have served in ww1.
He also lived in Dublin and worked for the post office.
I'm just staring to research and looking for any further leads.

Hi, My g. grandfather was a Daniel Driscoll - I also have a brick wall with him.

The 1900 Census shows him living in Somerville, Ma - came from Maine - as we all know these census's are quite in-accurate.....but says he was born in the Portland Me area and that parents were not born there.

I have his info on down - but cannot find his birth, marriage or death certs - do you know if your Daniel was in New England ever??

anyone else have a Daniel that matches??

unfortunately he only had one son, the rest girls which are harder to track.

If you think that the name Driscoll has been shortened from O'Driscoll, you are possibly (probably) wrong. Like many Irish names it could be either. In antient times, the O' as taken from the grandfather of the first person who bore the surname.

I too am trying to find out information on the Driscoll family. My G-G Grandmother as Catherine Driscoll who was born in 1844 in Banden, Cork, Ireland. Her parents were John Driscoll and Catherine Carty. Catherine (Driscoll)married Joseph Worsley (my G-G Grandfather) in Queensland in 1869. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to find out any more about the Driscoll family. It is possible that all the family migrated to Australia, but I don't know.

Don't think we are related - I am looking for my ancestors - those of Catherine Driscoll born in Banden, Cork, who migrated to Australia. Banden may be the same town your relative was born. Driscoll is a very common name in County Cork. Good luck.

I just typed out a bunch of stuff but kept getting an error when I tried posting it, and I can't message you since I don't have a paid account.----------

Anyway I seem to have two O'Driscolls in my family. One line came from Newfoundland (Tor's Cove specifically), but I don't know about the other one.
The earliest I have info on is Cornelius O'Driscoll b≈1815. He had 7? kids, then one of his sons had 13 kids (that's a gigantic branch right there and we're barely reached 1900). One of their daughters (now named Power) has 6 kids. One of these girls marries another O'Driscoll in MA and also has 6 kids.----------
I know some of those 13 kids came down here but not which ones.

My Michael Driscoll was b. 1833, son of Cornelius Driscoll and Mary(?). Married Mary Shea 1864, immigrated to NY in 1866, settled in Brooklyn. Children: Cornelius (1865-1916), Catherine (1867-1943), Ellen Agnes (1872-1929, m Richard Roche), Hanorah (1874, died young),Anna Theresa (1877-1948, m Daniel McKeon), Michael Driscoll (1879-1943),Mary J. (1878-1951, m Thomas Patterson), and Francis M (1881 died young). Not sure if there is a connection at this point.

Looking for parent and siblings of Michael J (Mike) Driscoll, born 27 Mar 1888 in co Cork per WW1 draft certificate (town unreadable, possibly Bantry), which states (without names) he was married with a child. His obituary (Long Beach, CA, 29 Oct 1970) names siblings Stephen, Tim, James, Cornelius, and Katie O'Neill.

Hannah & John ended up in the Chicago area, but I believe the rest of the family stayed in the New York or eastern US area.

One of the males--either Patrick, Daniel, James or William--had a daughter named Helen who was born around 1900 in New York. She shows up in the 1910 census living in Manhattan as a "boarder" with a Murphy family. In the 1920 census, she had moved to Illinois to live with Hannah & her husband and it states her mother was born in New York.

Does any of this sound like a connection to anyone? This has been a brick wall for me for years.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Crowley from County Cork, she came to America and was indentured to a family in Bellevue. John Driscoll Born c.1827 County Cork

I am seeking my GG Grandfather John Driscoll, who appears in Victoria Australia around 1854.
He was born about 1827 (cannot confirm, but drawing from the information I have this appears about right) in County Cork. He was the son of John Driscoll and Mary Coghlan.

I am unable to locate records or evidence of his actual arrival in Australia or his departure from Ireland.

I have two references to a 'John Driscoll' that interesct in Bendigo, Victoria where the Goldfields are.
The first is as a sailor in HM Navy who jumped ship in Port Phillip Bay (access into Victoria) in 1854 and is recorded in Police reports in Port Phillip. He headed to Bendigo and little reference can be found directly related to this John.
However this conflicts with the other references directly at the Gold Mines in Bendigo and his name appears on a petition written in June 1853 for Gold Miner's rights.

John married in 1856, his wife died 3 years later and he remarried in 1860. Of what information I have found, including wedding certificates and the birth cerificates of his many children, he doesn't give much away about his family.

My documentation clearly supports the gold miner and I have tracked my ancestry to him - I just cannot find the link to Ireland.

Perhaps someone has a John in their records born about 1827 in Cork?

Cornelius was born in co-cork ireland about 1821, where he married Jane Hawkins. they both emigrated to england about 1850. Cornelius (my great great grandad) died about 1873 in middlesex england. they had they 5 children;
Ellen Driscoll 1851/ john 1854-1883/ Cornelius 1855-1866/ Jane 1862/ and Joseph 1868-1923.

Joseph was my great grandad. however, could anyone please help me with any information on the rest of the family.

Sorry I cannot help you otherwise. However, I was a patient of Dr. Driscoll's. My grandfather and he were good friends from what I understand. As I remember Dr. Driscoll was a big Red Sox fan and I believe may have even traveled with the team to spring training. Good luck...

Am looking for information on Jeremiah Driscoll who was born in West Skeaf, near Clonakilty, Co Cork, on 23 Sep 1869. His parents were John Driscoll and Honora (Collins) Driscoll. At some point he left for America and was never heard from again.

Don't think so, but who knows?!!! Daniel(son), Jessie and Annie and their mother (name not known) were all in England after 1910 and Jessie seems to have been here (England) in 1901 so I suppose I have to assume they all were. Their father, Daniel, presumably was with them but where ......? He was, according to Jessie's marriage certificate, dead by 1906. Daniel, Jessie's brother, fought in the 1st World War in the British army and was stll alive in 1917 when he was discharged on medical grounds. Don't know what happened to either him, Annie or their mother. Are all Driscolls so elusive?

Matthew Driscoll, DOB about 1889, is my husband's grandfather who migrated to USA in 1910. He departed Ireland from Queenstown on the ship "Cedric" with at least one brother, possibly more. He settled in Rock Island, IL. and married Ozemma Wells. They had 2 children Edward Timothy Driscoll (wife-Virginia Sharp) and Marvel Driscoll Warren (husband Mel Warren).
I need info on siblings (one brother possibly named Mark who lived in Ottawa, IL), parents, place of birth and date. Any other info on possible relatives would be much appreciated.
