Mother, if the children ask,
where has our father gone,
when, as they weep, they ask about me,
tell them that I am in heaven.
Faithful wife, dear children,
do not forget me.
Plant roses and heavenly flowers,
to adorn my grave site.
The buds of our marriage,
dearest children, may you live well,
my story will surely make for heartfelt woe,
because I must leave you.
But what helps the anxiety and pain,
is that God will be your Father,
I will wish to shine on you,
and count your tears.
