I BELIEVE one of his children were Herbert William Drouillard, Jr ?? Also from Allen Park.

Herb (Jr) was my birthfather (he has since passed away).

He had a large family of brothers and sisters. I believe one of them was named Richard

I'm sorry I'm not much help aside from that as I didn't really know he or his family well (my parents divorced when I was young). I will get in touch with my mom and see if she can remember anything more.

thanks
April

If your related to Thomas Harvey Drouillard & Emily Monette then we are cousins. I'm not sure if they would be your great-grandparents or not. I've been tracing my great-grandmother's (Emily Delina (Drouillard) Cadaret) family for years. It's been slow going but now I've made some headway. Let me know and I'll send you some pictures. I'm willing to share info if you need it.

Pam (Cadaret) Colvin

Thanks for the reply concerning my search for the parents of
NELSON DROUILLARD, b. abt 1817 in Monroe County Michigan.

Looking at my copy of the book:
"Genealogy of the DROUILLARD FAMILIES OF ST. CLAIR CO.,MICH" Compiled by Elizabeth L. (Warner) DROULARD, pub. 1979, Algonac, Michigan.
Pages 51-52 your gg-grandfather and his children:
..........#21. NELSON ROBERT DROULARD,
..........born 28 Feb 1858 China Twp, St. Clair County, MI
Children listed include:
..........vi. Earl Nelson, b. 11 Sep 1895

So these birth dates of 1858 and 1895 are quite
later relatives of the NELSON DROUILLARD I'm looking for.
However, it's certainly great to have more researchers thinking about early DROUILLARD/DROULARD settlers in Monroe County and St. Clair County Michigan.

My notes so far, with scanned documents and links, are posted
at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nancyelder/NelsonOb...

I believe his closest relatives are listed on the Monroe County "PLAT MAP of 1810".
Dominique Drouillard -
...Marked on the left of Otter Creek, south toward Lake Erie
Charles Drouillard
...Marked on the right of Otter Creek
Nicholas Drouillard ("Heirs" including my direct ancestors, are next on the right.)
at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancyelder...

E-mail me anytime!
--Nancy Elder Petersen, Retired Librarian
NancyP@Teleport.com
Gg-granddaughter of Edesse Drouillard, f: Jean Baptiste, f: Nicholas
Host, ELDER DNA project
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Elder

She was just a tiny little girl when I last saw her and she looked a lot like her Daddy Roy.
A quick update here....

As I had mentioned, I though I had a line on Elizabeth's parents through the Civil War pention records of John Drouillard alias Druyour. However, this is not my John Drouillard. According to the pension record, this John married a Mary Ellen Herrmann and moved to San Francisco after the war. It looks like he was captured and was held prisiner in VA. He married Mary after he was released in 1868. Interesting stuff, but not my relatives.

If anyone is interested, I can give them more details.

Al

Thanks for the information.

I also believe that Jean (John) B Drouillard and Adelaide Antaya are Elizabeth's parents, although according to Elizabeth's death records from Monroe county, Adelaide was spelt Madeline Anteau.

I'm glad you could read the St. Joseph's record. I couldn't, but I also thought the record indicated Baptiste Trombley as the groom. I'm not sure if John is the word infront of Baptiste.

I'll contact you again on Knowyourkin.

Thanks again Mark
Al

Hi Al,
I haven't figured out who Elizabeth's parents are either. But I believe the Church record from St. Joseph is showing Baptiste Trombley, 27 and Elizabeth Drouillard, 21. Witnesses Baptiste Drouillard and I think Catherine Bernard.
I thought she was the daughter of Jean B Drouillard and Adelaide Antaya but have no proof. They have a son John Baptiste who is probably the witness.
Write me through knowyourkin.com and maybe we can sort this out.

Elizabeth Drouillard/Drewior

Hello
I’m trying to find a connection between Elizabeth Drouillard, Elizabeth Drewior and John B Trombley

I have found several references to Elizabeth Drouillard throughout several genealogy websites including KnowYourKin.com and Ancestry.com but all of them have stopped at her. There is usually no additional information on death or marriages.

I have found a Church record from St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Erie, MI for the marriage of a Trombley (first name is illegible, but may be Jean Baptiste) and Elizabeth Drouillard in 1881. This Church record has Jean Baptiste Drouillard as her father. The mother is illegible but may be a Bomier. I've also found the marriage record of John Trombley and Elizabeth Drewior from 1881 in the Family Marriage Database on Ancestry.com and within the LDS database. I believe the Church and database marriage records are documentation of the same marriage, but I need a tie between the Drouillard and Drewior names.

I can not find John and Elizabeth's marriage registered at the Monroe, MI county clerk's office. I just looked again today. I'd like to verify this marriage with at least two sources before I call it "documented". My first source, the Church records from St Joseph's is pretty illegible, but I can read the “Trombley” surname and “Elizabeth Drouillard’s” name.

If I can link the two names Drouillard & Drewior and the marriage date, I can make the jump from the Drouillard spelling to the Drewior spelling from the database records, and from there to the Trombley marriage. (I think I can anyway).

The death record of Elizabeth Trombley d:1902, has John Drewior and Madeline Anteau as her parents.

I also have seen the marriage record of John A Trombley and Mary Peat (actually spelled Pete) from the county clerk's office. John A Trombley has John and Elizabeth Drewyor listed as his parents, so there is yet one more spelling to Elizabeth's name. I am positive that John A and Mary Pete are my GGrandparents, so John and Elizabeth are my GGGrandparents.

In addition, I have found references to John Druyour (Alias John B Drouillard) in the Civil War pension index. I believe this to be Elizabeth's father. I have several census records with various spellings of Drouillard/Drulard/Drewior/Druyau/Drewyor/Druyour all from the same area in Monroe, County with Elizebeth’s name appearing for the first time in the 1860 census. But before 1870, Elizabeth and her family move in with the Lajiness family. Her mother Adelaide marries Paul Lajiness between 1860 and 1870.

I would like to find one more piece of documentation that ties Elizabeth Trombley to the Drouillards. Can anyone help out?

Al
I have searched many fruitless hours to discover a posting of when she diedm and where, it seems unlikely that her death went totally unnoticed. My gggrandfather was John, his and redbecca D's son Peter Coleman was my grgrandfather, and his daughter Rachel my Grandmother, and her son Glen was my father. My uncle did some research, and combined with some written history by another, older uncle came up with some interesting history.
I have wondered a lot about John, as there is a really interesting story about his origins,

I am very interested in anything you can tell me about John And rebecca..

I don't know if I am related to the Droulards in McCall. I am stuck with my John Simon Dreulard born 1839 in Iowa, died 1907 in Illinois. His daughter, my Great Grandmother's name was Rebecca May Dreulard, born 1881 in Jersey County, Illinois.
The earliest I have found him is in 1861, when John S. Dreulard enlisted as a Private in Company E, 1st Infantry Regiment Iowa on 20 April at the age of 21. Residence: Des Moines County, Iowa. A James Dreulard also from Des Moines County, Iowa enlisted as a Private the same date at the age of 24. I assume he was John's older brother. They both mustered out of the 1st infantry on 21 August 1861 in St. Louis, MO. (3 Months) (American Civil War Soldiers, Union).

He was on the 1870 Census in Lee County, Iowa, in Prison, which is probably why he changed his name to William Dove for a few years.

I found them on the 1880 Otter Creek, Jersey, Illinois, Census under the name of William Dove, age 39, born in Iowa. Father's born in France. Mother born in Pennsylvania. His wife Elizabeth is 29, born in Tennessee.

Iowa State Census 1895, Burlington, Des Moines County:
John S. Drulard, age 56, born in Des Moines Co., Iowa.

The 1840 Iowa census has a Rebecca Drulard 2 males under 5, 1 male 5-10, and one female 20-30 which may have been his mother. Which would mean he had at least two brothers. My Dad's cousin thought he might have a sister in OK.
I think this is my John's mother. I am wondering if her husband maybe went to California looking for gold and left her to raise the kids. My Dad's Cousin said something about her great grandfather, 1849 gold rush, getting rich and sending for the family and never heard of again. But this would mean he left before 1849.
My great Grandmother's name was Rebecca, probably named after her grandmother, John Drulard's Mother.
He was "married" to Asoundecris Flathead and had George, her tribe was transferred to Missouri from Maysville KY., Pierre was married to Angelica De Labadie at the time, and was at the time he "married" Susan Miller, who I am researching.

Here is some additional information:

(Alias) "Harry" Dupuis was born in River Canard on 27 nov 1877. No name or date references of any type within essex county have been found which match a Harry Dupuis (or dupuy). I have several documents to support the birth date is correct.

Baptism records at St Joseph church in River Canard show Maxime Onesime Dupuis being born on 27 nov 1877 to Maxime Dupuis (b:1849) and Catherine Rocheleau. I have all the linage including siblings, subsequent marriages etc.

aka "Harry" married Mary E (maize) Drouillard 30 jan 1900 at Our Lady of the Lakes in nearby Walkerville. This church was defunct as of 1980s. I believe the records may be held by regional diocese in London? They migrated to River Rouge, Michigan, also in 1900.

All USA records from 1900 forward use "Harry". 1881 canada census records show parents, siblings and Onesime, age 4

I am attempting to find a second recorded reference to prove that Harry and Maxime Onesime Dupuis, born 27nov 1877 in River Canard are one and the same person.

Any additional information or insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Terry Dupuis ml3170@power-net.net

My grandfathers birth name was Maxime Onesime Dupuis, son of Jean Maxime Dupuis x Catherine Rocheleau b nov 27, 1877 recorded St Joseph church River Canard. I have 5 generations predating. "Harry" was an alias.

Sisters:
Zoe Catherine feb 1872 x Daniel Matras
Elizabeth Marie mar 1873 x Pierre Renaud
Celina Marie may 1881

I have an 80 page document. cross referenced. Would help to know mothers first name, DOB and any other info. Probably a connection.

The "Marsh Collection Society" in windsor area turned up a ton of information I was unable to obtain on my own. Micro film records of church birth/death records, marriages etc.

My grandfather was known by alias "Harry" which was a brick wall. His actual birth name was deduced by DOB and known place of birth plus 3-4 other links. Substantiated by his marriage record where is birth name was used. Sometimes takes a lot of digging, deduction and detective work.

I would highly recommend the "Marsh Society collection" as it appears you are working in the same area. You can go there and research on your own with their asssistance. They helped my by request since I am distant from that area. I sent them a donation for their time and effort.

I am Terry DuPuis researching my grandfather
Harry Dupuis b:11/27/1877 Canada (assume Ontario) d: july 1970 in Mi.
Married to Mary E. Drouillard (b:6/14/1880). Sandwich, essex, Ont. decended from A.F. Drouilliard +F. Soulliere. They imigrated to River Rouge, Mi. around 1900.

I have good links on the Drouilliard side. The DuPuis side is pretty much a mystery. I am Not certain "Harry" is a given or nick name. I have found possible parent to Harry as John DuPuis + Louisa Payette born in Alsace Lorrain France (no dateS) = dead end.

One other possibility is John Dupy (?) era is correct.

I have solid linage fwd of H. DuPuis+ M.E. Drouillard.

Any All insights appreciated.

TDupuis

Re: NELSON DROUILLARD, b. 1817 Monroe Co MI

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the contact info!
I have been adding to my new FREEPAGES
at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancyelder...

However, I haven't yet found a good document to confirm
NELSON's parents. I do believe he is a close relative of
the families in Monroe Co MI, including my GG-Grandmother.

For example, 1820 Census Monroe County, MI:
at
http://members.tripod.com/~tfred/1820mon.html

John B. Drouillard4, b. 1755,
who is by himself in 1820, is 65 years old.
Denissen's list says he had 2 wives,
both died before 1820).
He is son of John 3, b. 1731.
JB3 is brother of Pierre, b. 1746 - f. of George D.)
JB4 is brother of Nicolas, Dominique and Charles.
JB5, b. 1799 is father of Edesse (my gg-grandmother).

Mark Drouillard's genealogy -A wonderful DROUILLARD webpage
at
http://www.knowyourkin.com
Mark writes:
">Several months ago I was presented with an unbelievable collection of newspaper articles collected by
Norman W. Drouillard of Riverside.
>The articles span the 1970's, 80's and 90's with some dating back to the 1930's.
>I've been sorting through the hundreds of articles, scanning them and organizing them to share with everyone through this website..."

A good possibility for Nelson's father, on Mark's list:

Charles Andre Drouillard
Birth 23 Sep 1800
Christened 30 Nov 1800 St. Antoine. River Raisin, MI
Person ID I1241 Drouillard

Father CHARLES Bonaventure Drouillard, b. 10 Aug 1756
Mother Marie Louise Quesnel dite St Remy, b.
