Your post took place quite a few years ago. If you still read this site, I would love to get a copy of your research on the Robert Drouin family. I visited the ancestral home in France last summer with my son and would like to learn more about the people and history. I have traced my family connection back to my great grandfather Francois Xavier Derouin (Drouin) b. 1825 married to Sophie Hamel and buried in St. Joseph d'Ely parish, Valcourt Quebec. I also want to fill in between F. X. & Robert! Je me comprende la francaise une peu!

Bruce C.
F.X. Derouin (b 1825) to Sophie Hamel (b. 1835) St. Joseph d'Ely, Valcourt PQ

I am trying to trace the Derouin (Drouin) lineages of my great grandfather Francois Xavier Drouin (possibly the F.X. Derouin, son of F.X. & ?, from Ste Anne des Plaines b. 3/20/1825) and great grandmother Sophie Hamel (possibly from St. Mathias, Rouville PQ b. 2/5/1835, daughter of Joseph Hamel & Rose Vien). Probably married abt. 1855 and settled, raised children and died in St. Joseph d'Ely Parish,Valcourt, P.Q. F.X. owned a 700-acre farm in Valcourt which son Frederic continued farming. F.X. & Sophie had 9 children, the youngest styled himself Dr. Wilfred G. Drouin b. 10/20/1880 but Valcourt baptismal records have him as Wilfrid Cleophas Derouin. Dr. Drouin moved to Holyoke MA and then to Scranton PA and is my grandfather. Can anyone help provide the missing links back to family patriarch Robert Drouin or help trace back to the arrivals of the Hamels in North America? By the way, I have visited ancestral homesite in France & have pics. Also have info on some of F.X.'s descendants to share. Thanks!

Hello! I believe we are of the same family. My grandfather was Herman George Maranger born 1908 in Michigan. His parents are Clarinda Derouin & Louis Albert Maranger. Herman was married to Louise Elizabeth Roberts (just one of her many surnames). My dad is Robert Earl Maranger born 1942 in Tampa, Florida. He mentions a brother George, Perry, Eugene and sisters Linda & Jeanne. Cindy Maranger was a later adoption and is about 4 years younger than me. I was born August 31, 1960 in Racine. My brothers are Steve & Bobby Maranger. Steve passed away in 1985.

I only have been researching about 2 years and this is the first time I checked out the community links. It's pretty exciting to see a connection to your family. Please respond! Elaine Thorstad - Jedsst@wi.rr.com

Thank You so much for your reply - Yes someone else was kind enough a while ago to help me out with the same info on Marie Francoise Drouin - and who she had actually married so now I know that she is not part of my Family History - Someone in our Family got their info wrong - how I don't know but it took the info from sereral people and researching on my own to set the record straight so this lady is not part of my Family - I have an idea how it might have happened though - as you know how recording of records go for back then - they had the wrong spelling of the last name and then went from there or they could not read the spelling on the document clearly enough - and took it as to be Drouin - but it was wrong - and I don't think they really checked into it completely after that - Thank You Again -

Lynda (Locke) Collier

Callixte Cyprien Doris Drouin

I have found on familysearch.org information stating that one Callixte Cyprien Doris Drouin is the father of my Alphonse Drouin born about 1870. Callixte Cyprien Doris Drouin is listed as being born about 1820 in Quebec and he maaried Rose Delima Dostie 10 January 1844 in St. Joseph, Beauce, Quebec, Canada. I'm also showing a marriage for him to a Emilie Giguere 19 November 1844. Delima Dostie is listed as Alphonse's mother on his marriage certificate but he wasn't born until about 1870. This would have put Delima Dostie around age 50 when Alphonse was born. Was Callixte Cyprien Doris Drouin married to two women at the same time or could there have been another Cyprien Drouin and Delima Dostie? I'm kind of at a dead end here and would appreciate any help. Thank you!

W.J. I see on the message board that you have 8 volumes by Father Tanguay on the Quebec ancestors. I am hopeful that there is a record of my grt.grand father Thomas Drouin b. 1853 and was married to Marguerite Desmarais 1872. CD Baxter was kind enough to send me Marguerite Desmarais's genealogy but I haven't been able to find anything on Thomas Drouin in order to further his line. Hopefully in one of the volumes there will be information about Thomas. I hope to hear from you. Many thanks for your time.
Hi,

I would much appreciate if you could share any information about the decendant line of the Drouin<s. This is my decendants on my Mother<s side and I do not know anything about that side of the family. We know that My grandfather married an Indian girl and she was removed from the tribal registries at the time. They both came from around Lake Ste Marie, Quebec or Maniwaki in that area. Any info would be much appreicated. Regards

Robert D. died 31th May and buried 1 June 1685. You should know that the most ancient marriage contract is that of Robert Drouin and Anne Cloutier. You can see it At Quebec, Archive Center. Many copies could be seen in many books.

Allo André - I have been reading all the messages on DROUIN families and am wondering if you have information on Robert Drouin born 1590 or 1596 and his wife Marie DUBOIS born 1591.

I do not have either of their parents and my line goes down thru their son Robert born 6 Aug 1607 in France who maried Marie CHAPELIER and their son Etienne DROUIN married to Catherine ALOIGNON then their daughter Marie DROUIN who married Pierre CRETE/CRESTE born 21 aug 1671.

Do you have any info on other family members. I do have the names and DOB of both Roberts children but not their spouses.Your message of 7 Aug 2000 mentoned that Robert had married twice first to Vincente Rouelle which is news to me Do you have any other info on her and if they had any children.

I tried to send this off the list but my message came back to me. Joyce

I tried sending this message direct to you but it came back to me.
