I'm interested in finding out the origin of the Drown(e) name. What was their trade or occupation that gave them this name? I've read shipbuilding and farm irrigation-water tender. My family branch goes back to Penryn, Cornwall ,England 1600s. As a side note, check out Nathanial Hawthorne's short story, "Drowne's Wooden Image"about a wood carver of statues and ship's figureheads in Boston.
