Marie,

Thank you for your response. I have had very few other responses.

I do not recognize the name 'Marvin' Drucker. I do have a faint recollection of Sam wearing a flat straw hat. His brothers would be Nathan, Henry, and Abraham. His sister was my grandmother, Rose Drucker Feist. I am uncertain whether they lived in Manhattan or Bronx. I do remember that the four of them would visit my grandmother on a Saturday and play cards for hours. I was very young and do not recall ever having any conversation with any of them.

The other thing that I recall is that my dad and one of his brothers were named after their living uncles, Nathan & Henry. This may mean that they were Sephardic or that they adopted that custom while the family lived in Holland.

Please reply with any thoughts that might at all be helpful.

Stan Feist

Hi Virginia,

I wish I could help you, but I am not sure if there is a connection. My husbands family's name was originally "Schmaren" and got changed to "Scharen" in 1952 by my Mother-In-Law Shirley Schmaren. There is always a possibility that we could still be a connection though!! I hope to hear from you when you return and hope you have a wonderful vacation!

P.S. The Schmaren family comes from Denver,CO around 1902.

Theresa Scharen

Hi Theresa, I know nothing about the Druckers, but am writing to you because of the name Scharen, which I was happy to see on this message board. My mother was Frances Catherine Scharen Ziegler, her father: Joseph Henry Scharen. This branch of Scharens lived in New York City. Joseph's father was Simon, his dad was Joseph. This last Joseph was born, I think, in Germany.Since Scharen is such an unusual last name I am hoping that there may be some connection . Do you have any information on Scharen that you would be willing to share? I can fill you in on dates and siblings, and have some old family pictures if you are interested. Please e-mail me at westrlw@aol.com. I will be vacationing for a few weeks, so if you don't get an immediate response please don't think I have forgotten you. Hope to hear from you. Virginia West

I need some info if anyone can help me. My great grandparents were Oscar and Lena Drucker. They had my grandfather, Sol, and his brother Oscar. Before the elder Oscar married Lena he had two sons by a previous marriage. It is my understanding that while Lena was pregnant with little Oscar, the older Oscar went out in bad weather to find his older sons who went out or ran away, I'm not sure. As a result he caught pneumonia and died. I think the too older kids were disowned from the family as Lena felt that they were the cause of Oscar's death. I don't know their names. My grandfather and his brother are still living and if anyone has any info on who the older brothers were, I'd love to hear from you. A part of our family has been missing and I'd like to find it.

Drucker Family

My grandmother was Rose Drucker. She married Abraham Feist. Their children were Jacob, Nathan, Bertha (Betty), Ruth and Henry.

The Drucker family came from or through the Netherlands. She had four brothers who lived in the Bronx. Their names were Abraham, Nathan, Henry , and ( I think) Sam. MY grandmother lived in Brooklyn. Her brothers would travel to see her almost every Saturday or Sunday. They would spend the day playing cards and talking. This was somewhere in the late 1930s or 1940s.

They may have been Sephardic because the children were named after living relatives. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

MY father's name was Jack he died a while ago at 62. he had a half brother Oscar and a half brother Sol who are still alive. Oscar lives in Long Island NY and Sol is in a nursing home in Florida. Jack had a daughter from his second marriage and I have been trying to locate her. I don't know if they are the same people, but the co-incidence of the name Oscar and Sol made me respond to your search . I did respond to a jess last year, but never heard back from anyone. If you know where I might locate my half sister, I'd appreciate that. My born first name had been changed to the above long ago (note the initial). hope this helps. Ps. I will send you a confirming E-mail at your aol address.
