Annie J Godbold sailed from Southampton to Quebec on the S.S. Antonia a Cunard ship on 30th April 1926. She travelled third class and was aged 26 giving a birth year of 1900. The ship was due in Quebec on 11th May making it a 12 day crossing. She had paid for her ticket herself. The ships “relationship” record shows that she was single, not married, widowed nor travelling as a daughter. Her place of birth was Ipswich. She had not been to Canada before but intended to remain there permanently. She could read. She had been employed in England as a “Domestic” and the record added, “12 years as a cook.” She had arranged employment in Toronto as a domestic help for :-

Her nearest relative in England was given as:-

The record recorded that she was not mentally or physically defective and did not have tuberculosis. She had in her possessions £10. She was granted sailing permission by the Canadian authorities.
1932 Journey to Canada
Annie J Drury age 34 (calc b. 1898) born Ipswich, England and wife of Mr E.W.Drury was on S.S. Alaunia sailing from Southampton 1st October 1932 to Quebec. The record has pencil notes and arrival maybe 9th Oct. The record shows that she was residing in Canada from April 1926 to July 1932 and her address with her husband was:-

Her passport was No. 36089 issued Ottawa 5/7/1932. She had $40 in her possessions.
She was travelling with her son Allan aged 4 (calc.b. 1928) who was born in Toronto.

In the county of York Registration Certificate number 3707.
Both were Anglicans.
Edward’s parents were Thomas Alfred Drury and Rose Mary Law.
Annie’s parents were Arthur Robert Godbold and Annie Crockford.
Witnesses were Leonard H. White of 682 Kingston Road, Toronto and Agnes Robertson Blane of 625 Kingston Road.
