Hi Erin,
Are you still out there and looking? I am David's brother and did not realize he had been looking for information as well. I recently signed up with "Ancestry" and found both your messages. There is a definite possiblility there is a connection. I have a birth certificate of my mother Elizabeth for 1922, age 28,so plenty of room for a brother or cousin in 1924.Birth record also shows there was one child ealier as well. The odds of a related family living in Merritt is higher than unrelated Drybroughs having settled there independantly. I show connections to a William Drybrough and a Mrs. J Drybrough of Merrit. My grandfather was John Drybrough and mother's madien name Emma Johns. I would very much like to hear from you if possible.

John Delaney (Drybrough)

Dear Sir: I may be helpful to you as to date I can go back 500 years with the surname. The folks you speak of who live on Van. Island are my cousins, uncles aunts etc. So hopefully in return u can help me. I am heavily involved with searching out the Drybrough medical history as it appears ALS is in the genes and my cousins and I are trying to track down the history without violating anyone's privacy. Kindly keep in touch and pass forward any info u can. By the way my imm. family has well over 100 Drybrough's in it.....and we're alive and well

Pam Drybrough
My name is Jennifer Drybrough and I see i'm am replying to you 5 yrs later. I have found out that my great grand father Thomas Drybrough lived in Merrit bc with his mother Janet Drybrough and father William Drybrough. At least until he enlisted in World war one, His father William died in that war. He did not. He went on to have one child Berthold Drybrough.I would like to track Janet ( Thomas mother and any of her other children ). I lose track of Thomas and his family in 1915. My grandfather Berthold passed when I was very young, He had 12 children. One of which is my father. If you have any info on any of the names mentioned that would be so helpful.
Thank you.

Thomas Drybrough originated from Scotlaand, married Elizabeth Burns, moved to Gateshead, County Durham. died c. 1940/41.
Not many actual spellings of DRYBROUGH around. I did check, no relationship could be found with the family who owned Drybrough's Brewery in Edinburgh.
Strange co incidence, the last of their family was named James, as was my last male cousin James Drybrough.

Dear Dave,

I see that I am replying two years after you first posted your message. I have recently begun to research my family history, and came across your message. I don't have specific information concerning Elizabeth Drybrough. However, my great grandfather Robert Drybrough lived in Merrit B.C. He was born in Haddingtonshire, Scotland and was actually the chief of police for Merrit. He was married to Margaret Drybrough (nee Lynch), who was born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. They had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. My grandfather Hugh Lynch Drybrough was born in Merrit, B.C. on March 4, 1924, I am not sure of the other sons name. Their daughter is Maureen Gilmour. Other than that, this is all the information I have concerning Drybrough's living in Merrit B.C. I hope this helps you. I would love to know if you have any other information concerning the Drybrough's. Perhaps we are related to each other!

Sincerely,
Erin Drybrough
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
