From an aunt I have learned that my family, the Dobbie's were originally from France with the name duBois. One ancestor was with the Norman army of 1066 AD and settled in England. Another ancestor (my branch) fled France with the Hugenots in the 1700's and settled in the North of England and the border area of Scotland. I'm searching for any pertinent information for either branch.
I know that the duBois name was 'Anglicized'
to its present DOBBIE in the distant past, but I haven't any later information further back than my Grandfather, William Dobbie from Dalkeith/Sandbach area
