Surnames: Dubois
My father was Josephat Dubois, born 1904, in Adams MA. Some of his aunts and uncles moved back to Canada - St-Jean-sur-Richelieu or Hemmingford - while others settled in Adams MA which is in NW MA at the foot of the highest mountain in MA. I know of none that went to OH. There were many mills in the town at the turn of 1900 - cotton, woolen, paper. The immigrants loved getting an envelope at the end of each week with cash inside. My father had to quit school at 14 and work in one of the cotton mills. It was very common for most 14 year olds. Few went to college or even graduated from high school. The mills are all gone now. Only a lime kiln is still in operation. I live in Northern VA. Lots of jobs here. Bev Sherman
