Hi. I was wondering if you ever heard of a Lugarda Duarte? She is my Aunt's great grandmother and is a native of Purepero. She lived with her older brother. I don't know what his name is. At that time she was aprox 30 years old. (1877) She married Teodore Espinoza and they had two sons Eleuterio Espinoza and Francisco Espinoza. I don't anything about them. The story goes that Teodore's first wife passed away and left him some children from his first marriage. They later rejoined him after he got married the second time. The first time he saw Lugarda Duarte he fell in love with her but she wasn't in love with him. He took her against her will into the mountains. Two week later she escaped and came back to town. Teodore was arrested for kidnapping and sentenced to one year in prison. He was in prison in Senora. The people of purepero shamed Lugarda because she spent the night with Teodore and would not marry him. She married him after she found out that she was pregnant. Lugarda was a smoker and had asthma and refused to quit. She eventually died in 1909 and her husband died the same year as well. The land was then left to Francisco to be divided between him and Eleuterio.

My grandfather was Jose Rufino Cornelio Duarte. He was born in Martínez de Abajo, Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico in 1906. He came to the United States in 1926 and worked on the railroad. He lived in Pittsburgh, PA in the early 1930's and in Washing, DC by the mid to late 1930's. He died in 1971.

I am unsure of what his parents names were. He had siblings. One named Johnnie who was shot and killed. He also had a sister, Consolación, who was known as Concha. She was born about 1895. Concha married a man named Jose Meraz and at least three children named Jose (1922), Eloira (1924), and Luz (1926).

If you have any information or something sounds familiar, please let me know.

Hey Shirley, I am sorry again for the late reply, I had not heard anything from Ancestry as to any replies on my original post. I found out that last night a friend pulled these up for me. I called and left a message on your answering machine if your area code is indeed 575. I know that my dad has 2 sister's one is Sally and the other is Lupe. I had another post from Jessica Casares, who is Sally's granddaughter, but her # has been changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry again for not posting sooner but glad that I am a little closer to finding out something about my Dad and his family. Thanks so much for your help, and God Bless always. Sincerely, Rhonda Jarrett.....my email is jarrettrhonda@yahoo.com or you can give me a call at (336) 300-8173. I work Mon thru Fri from around 6:30 am to about 6:15 pm when I get back home. Otherwise I am usually here at home.

Hey Jessica, Sorry but I did not get a reply from this as I should have by Ancestry. But, a friend of mine was helping me with my Father's research and came across this last night. I tried calling the 2 phone #'s and they did not work. I was so looking forward to being able to talk to you. Please email me at jarrettrhonda@yahoo.com or give me a call at (336)300-8173. I was truly excited when I found out that I had actually gotten responses from my posts. I have 2 children of my own, I married again 17 yrs. ago, and have 4 step daughters also. I have 6 grandchildren of my own, and 8 step grandchildren. My Mama passed away in Dec. so, this has not been a very good year for me until now. My dream would be to meet my Father and his family to make my life feel complete. Please contact me as soon as you can. Love always, Rhonda
I'm so sorry. I had sent cards to her address on Armitage for the past few years, hoping that I could get an address for my cousins. Boots had called me in WA when my mother was dying in 1992 and that's the last I was able to talk to her since we then moved on to Highlands Ranch, CO.

Now to hear that Joanne isn't well is just very sad news. Please hug her for me and tell her that her cousin Toni loves her.

I remember meeting him outside the church that afternoon! I've thought about him ever since, but i seem to have misplaced the address he gave me.I could only remember him saying he was a Bellew and he lived in Elk Grove, i think. It was a rough day... the saddest funeral i've ever been to, for sure...
I'm sorry to hear you lost your sister. Family is so precious. My sweet Aunt Boots passed on two yrs ago. She never recovered from a stroke she had shortly before Joey died. (That was the funeral i saw Gary at)My Mom has suffered from Alzheimer's for some time now and is "in care", i guess you could say. She still knows who I am, but everything else is rapidly slipping away...
wow, that was a downer post, wasn't it? sorry about that...

Maria Rosario Duarte

Hi, I am looking for information about my grandfather's mother. My grandfather's name was Henrique de Jesus Duarte (1921 - 2006). He was from Viana do Castelo in Portugal but came to the US in 1946. His mother's name is Maria Rosario Duarte. I do not have her birth year or date of death. i believe Henrique had a sister named Teresa (not sure of spelling). My father tells me that Maria was well known in Portugal and people traveled from all over to see her. Apparently she made potions and performed "healing" prayers on those who were ill. I would love to know more about her and all of my portuguese relatives.

My grandmother was Mary Duarte Rezente and grandfather was Manuel Rezente (VuVu)(I guess a very popular Portuguese name). Unfortunately, both passed before I was born, but this is what I know:
Mary and Manuel had three Children: Donald Rezente, Ruth Rezente and Donna Rezente (my mom, who has passed). My mom grew up in Oakland.
From what I understand, My grandmother, Mary, was born in Hawaii.
I know it's not alot. but it is what I have.
Shawn Fulgado

Hello Cythnia

My name is Jessica Osoria and my father was Jess Duarte. Tom Duarte was my God father and uncle. They were from Billings Montana. My dad was born in Texas and then traveled to Billings Montana where Andrew Duarte (grandfather) worked in the mines.I not sure on the Crowe Nation but I am sure that they are from Billings Montana that you are asking about. Before my father passed away in 2001 he went back to Billings Montana. He said a German family bought their original house and still live there to this day. Frank Duarte the oldest was the only relative still living there. Majority of the Duarte's live in Hanford Ca and Visalia Ca.

If these are the same people you are looking for, then we are family.

Jessica
