Albert Duchow Dies at Age 90
Funeral Rites Set at Hewitt on Wednesday
Albert Duchow, who for many years was a carpenter in the community around Hewitt and helped erect the first church there, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gunderson, after having been ill since Friday. Mr. Duchow, whose home was on route 5, was 90 years old at the time of his death.
Beginning this evening the body will repose at the Hansen Funeral Home, and on Wednesday noon it will be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt, where funeral rites are scheduled for 2 o’clock that afternoon. The Rev. John Brandt will conduct the funeral rites, which will be followed by interment in the church cemetery.
Mr. Duchow was born in Calumet county Jan. 26, 1864. The farmer-carpenter lived near Potter until 1891, when he came to live on a farm in the town of Marshfield. From 1919 to 1927 he resided in Brillion and since then had lived on the home farm on route 5.
His marriage to Martha Zahn took place in Potter Dec. 12, 1889. She died Nov. 7, 1914. In 1916 he was married at Brillion to Mrs. Anna Greve, who preceded him in death Feb. 17, 1931.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Wundrow and Mrs. Gilbert (Caroline) Gunderson, both of Marshfield: a son, George H. Duchow, Potter; three stepchildren, Robert Greve, Mrs. Herman Jandrey and Mrs. Laura Koerth, all of Brillion; 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sons, John and Adolph, two stepchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
