Jonathon is the son of Thomas A. I am looking for documents that will tie them together as father and son and also establish definitive dates of birth and death for Thomas. I already have the 1860 and 1870 census records that are available on the net. I'm looking for more personal items such as bible records, letters, etc. Thomas was married twice. His first marriage was to Mary St. Clair (or Sinclair) in 1844. Jonathon was a son of this first marriage. There were a number of other children. Mary died in 1863. Thomas remarried in 1864 to Mary Ann Moore Black. Mary had at least four children of her own at the time of the marriage. Thomas and Mary Black had several children together, including Reed Thomas Duckworth, born 1870. Reed's daughter Mary Elizabeth applied for DAR membership in 1929. She listed Thomas' date of birth as February 3, 1821, using bible records and letters as proof. As I have searched the web for info, I've seen that a number of other researchers have his date of birth as Dec. 1820. Also found a tombstone photo for a Thomas A. Duckworth in Linwood Cemetery in Iowa that says born Dec. 12, 1820. I'd like to know for sure which is correct.
