Ronald William Duda, age 73,
of Erie,County,Pennsylvania,
died at his residence
surrounded by his loving family
on Wednesday, December 22, 2010,
He was born on March, 22, 1937,
a son of the late Zigmond and Ruth Ester Duda.
Ron graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1955 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ron retired from the Nabisco Co. where he was a warehouse driver for 32 years and after retirement he worked part time with Special Touch Landscaping. He was proud of becoming a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Ron loved his family and especially enjoyed activities with his grandchildren and "tinkering" in his garage.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by one grandson, Benjamin William Roth; and one brother, Earl Duda.
Ron was known to his family for his guidance, support and teasing sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Roach Duda;
their four daughters, Bonnie Swasing and her husband, Fred, Ann Duda all of Erie, Dawn Williams and her husband, Donald, of Manasses, Va., and Carrie Roth and her husband, Keith, of North East; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zachary Roth, Sean, Sydney and Samantha Williams, and Trey and Halle Swasing;
two brothers, Edmund Duda,
and Henry Duda and his wife, Darlene, all of Wattsburg; two sisters, Sally Harwood of Wattsburg,
and Johanna Purdue of Maryland.
He is further survived by his dog and nap partner, Trixie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. (corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited there for a prayer service on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
