I did not see your post before I replied today. I am your father's first cousin. Your grandfather was my mother's brother. My maiden name was Sorensen. Much harder to pronounce and nearly last in all school activities due to "S". I married a Brown and much easier to pronounce and up near first for my children in school. The name is what you make. Alex has done well and I don't recall the name holding back. Be proud of your name because Kiser Dudchock did not choose the name either. I have been told immigration spelled it this way due to speech interpretation. I hope you do well in life and make the rest of the Dudchocks proud. Kindest regards to your father and the rest of your family. Your grandfather was proud of his legacy of grandchildren.
I have researched the Dudczaks from Roztoka Ryterska.
That is a few miles south of Stary Sacz near Rytro.
There is a lot of Dudczaks in the LDS church records.
Some of the Names I have found are: Blasius, Adalbertus
Simeonis,Joannes,Stanislaus etc. My ggfather Adalbertus
Married Catherina Pawlik in Rytro in 1855. Go to the
nearest Lds history and rent the microfilms, you
will be surprised at all the info on them. Teresa from this board is my niece and is looking
for Duchock(Dudczak's in Poland)too. Terrell

The family name is Dudczak in the church records
in Poland. At that time there was not a Poland
but part of the Aust/Hung empire. The area was
called Galacia on the southern border next to
Slovakia. Your ggfather's name was Casimirus
in Latin, he came to USA in 1900, on Ellis Island
web site he was listed as Dudczek.

My Father is a Dudchock and so is his Father but I don't know anyone beyond my grandfather that is a Dudchock. Frankly, I don't like the name. It is hard to say and everyone always has a hard time with it. I would rather have my mother's maiden name but that isn't what this message board is about. My Father is George Michael Dudchock and so is his father. I don't know of anyone else that has that last name but it seems there are obviously other people with it.

I just found this interesting information and can share a little on some of the currently living family members. I was married to Joseph Michael Duchock, son of Charles Jack Duchock and Mary Monica Majerik Duchock. Joseph Michael was the third son. He currently lives in the Huffman area of Birmingham and is a Birmingham police officer. He is the father of Joseph Christian Duchock, John Charles Duchock and Michael Shane Duchock, plus a younger son from his second marriage, Joseph Michael Duchock.

Several children of Charles and Mary Majerik Duchock live in Birmingham and, I believe, provide you with information and perhaps photos of some of the original family members.

Good luck with your search. I would love to share the information you have gathered with my three sons named above.

Dudchocks

My son, Joey Beck, forwarded me your message. I knew Helen, she was a very sweet lady. My mother (Kathryn Yarchak Duchock) and I would sit with her to play bingo at the community center in Brookside. Her sister is Katie Bensko Duchock who was married to Steve Duchock. They had one son, Steve Duchock, Jr. (married to Patricia Poindexter) and have 3 sons. They still live in Brookside and Katie lives with them. She is 90+ years old. She is my aunt as she married Steve Duchock who was a brother to John C. Duchock who is my father. Their parents are John C. Duchock and Catherine Elizabeth Duchock who are buried at St. Michael's cemetary. Since the Catholic church in Brookside has been closed for several years now, most parishioners go to St. Patrick's in Adamsville. I believe if you contact St. Patrick's they may put you in touch with someone who has the church records. I attend St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church (still open) in Brookside. The Orthodox cemetary is across the road from the Catholic cemetary. Many of the families have members buried in both. My father, John C. Duchock, Jr., is buried in the Catholic cemetary. Mr. and Mrs. Duchock came to America from Slovakia sometime around 1900. Children born of them were Mary Duchock Tarrence (deceased); Annie Duchock Zimmerman (deceased); Charles Duchock (deceased); Steve Duchock (deceased); John Duchock (deceased) and Albert Duchock (who is the only son still alive and he lives in Minor Heights). The original Duchocks had a brother (Kyser Dudchock) who came to America sometime around 1920, and he had several children, I believe there is only one remaining alive sho is George Duchock who lives in Graysville. Let me know if you have questions and I will try to get answers.

Hi Teresa, I have a great aunt Katie Bencko/Bensko that married Steve Dudchock, I dont think he is alive but to last of my knowledge she was alive and living in Brookside. I dont know about siblings of theirs.Katie's deceased sister Helen Bensko Barchak was my fathers mother.I havent been to Brookside for many years but I knoww there are many Benskos inthe area.i bet that Steve Dudchock is related to your Dudchocks. I havent studied that line of the family yet. My grandmother was the last relative that I know of to be buried in St Michaels cemetary, I havent been there to see her gravesite yet.Someone in the Bensko family was doing the familytree quite awhile back, but my grandmother never got the name to me and as of now I havent found out who it is.Let me know how Steve fits into you family.Katie was born about 1910 so I presume he would be around the same timeframe. I'd like to hear from you. Thanks Christine

We are still in touch with most of the Duchocks from Brookside. My mother is Elizabeth Duchock Beck. We still visit Brookside weekly as we are still members of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church there. From what I've been told is that the Duchocks came in more than one trip from the old country and immigration spelled one group's name Dudchock and another's Duchock. No one really cared to correct it back then as most couldn't speak english anyway. I guess it sounds the same when you say it in slavish... You can contact my mother at EBeck@Balch.com. Our church has a Russian/Slavic food festival the first weekend on November each year. That is also the same Sunday as Catholic All saints day where everyone comes to St. Michaels cemetary for an outdoor Mass. You can meet a number of the family that Sunday as well as eat some old world food....

Jedo (Grandad) was Kaiser Dudchock, his second wife was Mary. Don't know the first wifes' name. Their children were Alex, George, Sopia, Frances, and Thomas.
