Hi, my name is Bill Dudding, and I am a 2nd cousin 2 times removed to James A. Dudding. Another person who may have more info is also a Bill Dudding in Butte Montana. His E- Mail is trucker@rfwave.net. Let me tell you what I have:I have him born 1862 in Bedford, Virginia, married Harriett Minerva Falls, who was born 1865, from Botetourt County, (West) Virginia, on 25 May, 1887, in Botetourt County, WV, He had abt. 10 children, Homer R, b. 1890, Florine B., b. 1892, who married a Luther Hincher in 1925, probably in Roanoke, Virginia, Alon V., (female), b. 1894, Ortie K., b. 1896,of Cave Spring District, Roanoke, Virginia, who married an Olivia C._____, in 1922, in Tampa Florida, They had 2 children I found in censuses- Ortie K. Junior, 6 Dec., 1922, and Colleen Olivia, 16 Aug. 1924, both of them born in Virginia, Pluma Luck, 4 Dec. 1896- I don't know if she and Ortie are twins but it's possible, Mirta S., b.1900, who married a John Sink in 1920, likely in Roanoke, Va., John O., b. 1903, who married a Virginia _____, no date or place, Zelea Marie, b. 1904, Dallas Mabel, born within 1 month of 18 May, 1908, and finally Everett Dudding,(actually a grandson), b. 1915, who was listed as adopted. There is an Everett Dudding, likely him, buried in a VA Cemetery, with birth date of 1 Oct. 1914, and death date 23 Apr., 1967. All apparently were born in Virginia, according to all the census records. Hope this helps.

Hi Nicola
I too am descended from Henry Robert ALKIN .. from his daughter Katherine. And yes I do have lots of information on both the Duddings and Alkin families .. in fact the Alkin line goes back to 1694 and associated lines go back for 7000 years! I can send you a GEDCOM or PAF zip file if you would like. I have seen the lovely painting of Thomas Verrier ALKIN of Australia online .. as well as his granddaughter, Juliet Elizabeth Verrier ALKIN (although they seem to have dropped the Juliet!) Looking forward to hearing from you.
Pat Pike
Rotorua, New Zealand

Hi Pat,

I'm not sure if you'll get this, as I note your original message was posted on 2002. My ancestor was also Lucy Dudding. She married my great-great grandfather Rev. Henry Robert Alkin. For a while they lived on the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, where my great-grandmother Dora Margaret Alkin was born, with her siblings Bernard Robert, Frederick Henry Arundel and Katherine. Henry Robert was the curate on St Agnes in the late 1880's. I'm still trying to piece the Alkin puzzle together, as we have photographs of Henry's relatives, notably Rev Thomas Verrier Alkin, who moved to Australia.

My great-grandmother, Dora Alkin married Edwin Leonard Jenkin, from Madron, Cornwall, and they moved to Johannesburg, South Africa in the early 1900's.

I would like to now if you have any further information on the Duddings and/or Alkins.

Regards, Nicola Jenkin

Edith Myers is my dad's sister. They recently moved back to Craig. I believe she did an extensive researchon the Dudding's once and traced back to England. I have never seen the papers, wish I could. They did mention a Dudding website posted on the internet at the family reuinon, apparently we are related to the WVA Dudding that has the website, so you may check out his site. I was trying to find information for my daughter.

I saw your message and hope you can help me. I don't have the picture you are looking for, but I am looking for information about a Dudding lady that died int the 1930's in a flood or either her husband. The had identical twins that were born in 1930 and put into the Davis Child Shilter in Charleston when she died by an aunt that was a nun. If you can find any information about any of this, I would greatly appreciate it. One of the twins died in the servise in 1948, but the other is a friend of mine. He would like to find a blood relative and some family informatioin for his children. Thanks for your assistance.

Kristie
