I am seeking any info on parentage of John Dudley m. Docia Clevenger 1817 in Highland Cty, OH. Later moved to Randolph Cty, IN. I believe he is connected to Dudleys of Campbell County, VA. His children's names are similar to these Dudleys (William, Wesley, Preston, Jesse). He may be related to Armistead Dudley, who has links to Benjamin Terrell in VA. John is linked to these same Terrells in Ohio. Other allied families are Clevenger, Smithson, Thornburgh of VA, Ohio, NC & Indiana.

George Washington Dudley married Sarah Tarter.
George was born 22 Jan 1854 Adair County, Kentucky and died 03 Jul 1928.

He had a number of children including Killis or Killus who was my Great Grandfather.

Caleb Pearcy was born in 1873 and married Lillie Boots.

All I have on Elizabeth Griggs is she was married to Pinkney Albert Boots. Family legend has it that Elizabeth was killed by Indians in Oklahoma which may or may not be true.

Greetings Jessie. I, too, am researching the surname Dudley. My Dudley lines are connected to Virginia, North Carolina, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania, specifically Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. My Dudley ancestors are of African and European ancestry and I am not sure if my African Dudley ancestors were ever enslaved.

Do you by chance have anything on a George A. Dudley born 1829 I believe in Ontario, or a Richard Dudley born about 1911 in Ireland? They are found together in the 1851 Census of Norfolk Co., Ontario.

They were living in Albemarle County in 1890. His son Arthur Henry married Margaret Elizabeth Spradlin on June 12, 1890, in Albemarle County. The only information on the marriage bond I have is James A. and Callie Dudley were his parents and both were born in Virginia.

This Greengrove DUDLEY appears to have fathered five half-blood Indian children between 1855 and 1864:
1) Susan b.c.1855
2) Benjamin, b.c.1857 and on 1880 USC in Springville, Humboldt Co., CA, d Alameda, CA 1889
3) Joseph b.c.1859
4) Charles b.c.1861, d Alaska 1889
5) Emma b.c.1863 and d 1882
First 3 were on 1860 USC Pacific, Humboldt, CA marked 1/2 Indian
All 5 were on 1870 USC, same location, marked "1/2 Indian" "Tally white" then something undecipherable.
Who was the Indian mother of these five children?
Does anyone have any more info on these children?

Benjamin E. Hendricks was in the Alabama 14th Infantry in the C.S.A. he was a Private. Moses Hendrix was in the Beat Co, 3,5 South Carolina Militia aslo a Privaate in the C.S.A. Nicholas Dudley - there were two in Georgia, The first one was Co. ''C'' 1st Ga. Cavalry which recruited men from Meriwether, Floyd, and Lumpkin counties.
The second one was Co. ''D" 21st Ga. INF. which recruited men from Campbell, Floyd, Fulton, Polk, Gordon, Troup, Stewart, Dale, and Chattooga Counties.

Dudleys of New Hampshire

Am trying to find information about my great-great grandfather Alvin´s parents, John and elisabeth Dudley. Alvin and his two brothers John jr and Levi, emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1817.In the Canadian census of 1860 they state their parents as Elisabeth and John Dudley, John says he was born in New Hampshire in 1799, the other brothers state they were born in Vermont, but no town or county given.
Grateful for any information that might help in my search.

Dudley Family - Settlement of the "Sufferers' Land"

I have a blog at http://firelands.wordpress.com that tells the history of the founding of the town of Norwalk, Ohio in 1817 during the settlement of the Firelands or “Sufferers’ Land,” a part of the Western Reserve that was given to “Sufferers” burned out of their homes by the British during the Revolution. The story of one of the early settlers of the Firelands, Frederick Wickham, who left a life as a captain of a Lake Erie schooner to settle in Norwalk and become a newspaper editor, is a major part of this history.

Frederick was a descendant of Thomas Dudley, who settled in America in the 1600’s. On my blog I have posted a genealogy of Frederick Wickham’s Dudley ancestors that was written by my great-grandmother and grandmother early in the last century.

I post an episode of this history on my blog every Monday and will continue until November 2009. I hope that people interested in the history of the Dudley family will be entertained and informed by these postings and fill in gaps and correct inaccuracies in my research.

I hope you get this. I have recently been making some breakthroughs on Ancestry.com and I believe you are a distant cousin of mine, through Chapel Pinkney Dudley. I am a gg granddaughter of his brother, Joel. I believe my findings to be true and you can pursue if you would like or contact me @ bdspear@msn.com. I have tracked the father of Joel and Chapel Pinkney Dudley and his name was William B Dudley, in Elbert, Georgia. His wife was Clemontyne Butler. I have recently found his grandfather who was George Dudley, b. 1715 in England and came directly to Virginia in 1733 and finished his endenture in 1737-38 and then married. How far back do your DUDLEYS go??

My GG grandfather was George DUDLEY who was transported to Australia in 1820.
His parent's names were given as Andrew and Maria.

Ring any bells.

Dudley's in Tennessee

In the 1920 Obion County Tn cenus, lists Fannie Dudley and her 2 children Hazel and Prentice. Does anybody out there know what happened to Prentice? And also does anybody know when Fannie died and where she is bured at? I would also like to know why she is listed as widowed when her husband Artie Finley Dudley is alive and well living in the home of his mother Sarah J Dudley in Weakley County. Later in the 1930 cenus Artie is living on his own with two children Hazel 13, and Carlton 5, and is listed as widowed. Can anybody shed some light on this situation? I would appreciate it very much
