Wilhelm and Emilie SCHMIDT and children came to Pittsburgh, specifically Bellview, approx. 1905 and opened a market. Last known place they lived before immigrating was Izbica, near the Baltic Sea, in what is now Poland, then Germany. Children Alexandria, Clara, and Charlotta born in Germany. Children Gustav and Robertha born in Pittsburgh. They never left PA, only moved up to Mercer County where they lived out their lives. Some of their relatives supposedly moved to Chicago. Ring any bells for anyone???

I don't know anything about the murder, but I also don't much about the entire family. They lived in Dayton and my Charles was born in 1886 or 1888 in Dayton. It could be his father. I would appreciate any information that might give us a clue as to whether or not there were siblings. I know of no siblings for Charles because I haven't been able to locate any information on him except marriage information. This might be a connection. You can email me directly if that is easier. Thanks.

Hi Meg, thanks for responding to my post. I have some information on the Rillings, but it's not complete. I've managed to get most of the info from records in Washington County for my Barbara and a few of her siblings, a generation or two back in Germany however my trail gets a tad thin. If you could fill in the blanks I would deeply appreciate any family data you can spare, we certainly should compare notes.
Sure wish I could be as fortunate to find a family for my George Duerr...this guy makes me crazy.
~Michelle

This Charles was born in Barton, WI in 1859 and had 3 children by the 1900 census in Cicero, IL. Walter b. 1888, Clara B. 1891, and Arthur b. 1895. I'm sure there are more children born, but I only have up to the 1900 census so far.

I'm looking for the family that George b. March 1827, left behind in Wuerttemberg after imigrating to US in 1848. He married Barbara Rilling in NY, or WI in 1849. Children: Mary b. 1852, Elizabeth b. 1855, George b. 1857, Charles b. 1859, Emma b. 1861, Otto b. 1867, and Anna b. 1869. George served in the West Bend, WI infantry. His family lived in West Bend/Barton, WI from about 1852 to 1890, when he and Barbara moved to Milwaukee and were found in that city's census in 1900. George later died in the National Home in Milwaukee, September 16, 1903. I have no idea what became of his children after leaving West Bend. Does anyone recognize this family? Please let me know.

Jacob Duerr & Ida Schmeelk

Jacob Duerr was born in New York abt. 1875 according to the 1910 Census. He married Ida Rose Schmeelk. According to the 1910 and 1920 Federal Census for New York, they lived in New York City, Queens Borough on Loefferts Place, not far from South Oceanside Avenue. He was an oyster man on the bay and a carpenter. One of their children was my Grandmother, Helen I Duerr, born December 6, 1904. In 1910 and 1920 their neighbors were Steven and Viola Schmeelk. Viola's maiden name was Shaw. Jacob Duerr must have died between 1910 and 1920 because on the 1930 Federal Census for New York, Ida is listed as being widowed. The rest of Jacob and Ida's children were: Ida Rose, who married a Morton. Margaret who married a Horner. Pauline who married Robert C. Richter. My Grandmother Helen, married Walter U. Austin. There was one son Herman Duerr who married Helen ? and they had 2 sons, Hank and James. Pauline's husband Robert was a Nassua County, LI, NY Judge. According to the census info Jacob's mother and fatther were both born in Wirtenburg, Germany. Any information on this line of Duerr's would greatly be appreciated. I would be more than happy to share the little information that I do have. Thank you Diana Austin Hamlett
