This is my first time on ancestry.co.uk. I found it through a Google Search. I'm looking for Duffeks from Prague (Bohemia) who then settled in Furth, Germany and then in New York and Jersey in the US. The name is Frank Duffek (or Duffeck), wife Amalia Weber. Does anyone recognize this as family? Thanks in advance.

I do not know much about Frank and Hellen Duffek. I was looking for information on how they are conneted to my GG-Grandmother (Anne Kenzle). Maybe you could e-mail me what you know and we could share information. Do you know anything about the Bruno, Sladek families, or have you ever heard of them.

I've read you posting and my father's Grand parents were Frank and Hellen Duffek. My father was born in Chicago IL in 1955 to Arthur(son of Frank and Hellen)and Mona Duffek. I am trying to find out my exact history. My father insits We are decedents of Bohemia. I would like to know where exactly. I do know that Frank had siblings. Please share any information you have.

My great-grandmother, Anna Duffek Sedivy, emigrated from "Austria" circa 1910. (She married Dominic Sedivy in Johnstown NY; both spoke Slovak.)

We're sorting and scanning photos, but can't identify many people. Anecdotally, she was accompanied by a sister or female cousin who died of TB not long after arrival.

A brother, Victor/Viktor, also lived in the Johnstown NY area, and a brother, Mark, died at age 19 of a ruptured appendix. There were another couple of siblings that remained in Europe.

After Dominic died in the influenza pandemic in 1917, Anna worked as a glovemaker and raised her daughter, Elizabeth. They spent some time with Dominic's brother John's family, out of necessity, but eventually came to own their home and may have invested in some other property, as well. Elizabeth is no longer a reliable historian, so much of the history is lost.

I'll post more as names emerge, as we've just started this line.

Looking for any descendants or any information on family of James (Vaclav) Dufek (abt 1863-1899) and Mary Martinek (abt 1868-1942) both born in Bohemia. Married in 1887 in Chicago, had 4 children: Lizzie, Frank F., Marie (died as an infant), and Emilie (Mildred). His widow Mary ran a grocery store around 1900 to at least 1920.

Looking information about the Duffek family from Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Would like to know how they are related to the Sladek's, Bruno and Kenzle's families. I heard they all came from The Austro-Hungrian Empire in the Province of Bohemia near Prague around the 1880's, but that is just family tradition. One of their death certifcates say they were born a czech. Thanks

I am looking for information on the family of Frank James Duffek.

Frank James Duffek was born abt 1863 in Boehmen, Koenigreich, Austria.

His father was Joseph Duffack (b: 1830) and his mother was Teressa (maiden name unknown - b:1833). Both are believed to have been born in Boehmen, Koenigreich, Austria also.

I have found Joseph and Teressa Duffack in the 1880 Yankton County, South Dakota census listing 4 children: Frank James (b: 1863), Vincent (b:1868), Josephine (b:1871), and Annie (b:1873). I believe there may have been a child between Frank James and Vincent who may have died as an infant (before the 1880 census was taken) but I do not have proof of this.

Frank James Duffek married Frances Cristine Kratky (b: 1865) on 21 Feb 1887 in Saunders County, Nebraska. I have 12 children listed for Frank and Frances, 8 of which are known to be their's for sure, 4 are speculative. Finding a clearer version of their family would be wonderful.

Frank James Duffek died 3 July 1929, believed to be in Seward County, Nebraska.

If you have any information on Frank James Duffek, or his parents, Joseph and Teressa (no maiden name), or on his wife, Frances Cristine Kratky, I would be MOST appreciative!!

Alexander Duffek

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS-Alexander F. Duffek, 87, of Keystone Heights died
Friday, June 6, 2003, at Shands at Alachua General Hospital following a brief
illness.

Born in New York City, Mr. Duffek moved to Keystone Heights in 1982 from
Jacksonville. He was a mechanical engineer and retired from Preston Haskell.

Mr. Duffek is survived by: his wife Bernice Duffek of Keystone Heights; a son
Robert Allen Duffek of Tampa; a step-daughter Betty McCarthy of San Diego,
Calif.; two step-sons, Roland Kerby of Long Beach, Calif. and Daniel Edward
Kerby of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Irene Schmidt of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and
Eleanor Belchak of Keystone Heights; 11 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mr. Duffek will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14,
2003, in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with Father Moises
Palaron conducting the services. Interment will be at a later date.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Duffek.

Hello, what time frame are you looking at? The best I can tell, my family, the Duffeks, came from Prague or Kutna Hora, around 1860. The man, Duffek, married into an Italian family, the Radda, or Rada, family. They went from Italy to Prague.

I live in Tabor SD I am a Great nephew of JP Duffek who lived in Tabor. My mother Irene Duffek was married to George Duffek (died in 1982)who was the son of Stephen Duffek who was the brother of JP Duffek. I can remember JP as a trucker here in Tabor. I can remember all of their children somewhat. Helen was the best known to me being she lived in Tabor with her husband Dan. I was alway wondering where Russel Elliot is living now days?
