I believe that Estache Duguay, and Helene Richard are my great-grandparents of Canada. Their daughter Nathalie Duguay, born March 10, 1878-Married 3 times, LeBlanc, Melanson, and Gaudreau. Spelling may be off.
If you have photos of Nathalie that would confirm the relation.
She later moved to Massachuttes.
Duggie formerly Duguay, Tario / Theriault

Hi;
I'm new here. I come from a group of Duggies from Boston, Mass. Family tradition is that the name was changed from Duguay to Duggie when the family mooved to New England from Prince Edward Is./ Maratime provinces area, date unknown.
My grandmother ( Margaret Duggie ), her sister ( Marian
Duggie ), and their brother ( Edward? Duggie) were born in the Boston area around 1900.. At that time the family was Roman Catholic. My great-grandfather Duggie was a fisherman ( and later rum-runner?) around Boston. Grandmother. siblings, and G'G'Grandfather moved to Santa Rosa , CA, in about the early 30's
Grandmother ( Margaret ) married a Mr. Coltrin. G'Aunt Marian married a Mr Zissman, G'Uncle Ed married also.
Does this bare bones sketch fit in anywhere? We are also alledged to have cousins named Tario. We had other cousins ( Duggies? ) in the Santa Rosa area of N. California.
Thanks
Charles Myron Duggie Jr..

Hi Jean Pierre: Laurent Duguay was my grandfather's brother. Laurent was married to Delia Marie (Lea) Cousineau in Bonfield, Ontario Apri 14, 1888. They had a child John Baptiste Duguay born circa 1890.
According to my cousin Lee Payne, who is the great grandson of Laurent and Delia Marie, Laurent is said to have died in a logging accident near Sudbury shortly after his son Jean Baptiste (Jack) Duguay was born. However, the same Laurent is found in 1901 Census in Quebec, living with his parents.

Delia married (or lived with Joe St. Arnold who adopted Jean Baptiste or Jack as he became known (Jack St. Arno)
about 1890 or 1891. She left him about 1907 and the younger children were taken by the state about 1908.
Jean Baptiste (Jack) Duguay St. Arno died about 1952 in Lansing, Ingham County Michian. He met and married Laura M. Hallett August 19, 1913 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (Chippewa County). No one knew of any of this until after Delia died. Lee found some of her papers and began piecing things together. He then contacted me with the story. I have a copy of Delia and Laurent's marriage certificate from Lee. If you wish to correspond with him here is his email address.
leekit99@hotmail.com I met Lee and his wife Kit last summer. They live in Michigan and we were is Sault Ste. Marie, On. visiting my mom. We are trying to find out what really happened and where Laurent is buried. I don't know when he died. If he and Delia were separated or divorced I don't know if he could have been buried in the catholic cemetary in those days. Thanks Jo-Anne Hiscock

And from the documents I have there was only one marriage up to 1941. Their son, Joseph-Albert married in Grande-Rivière on oct 17 1933 to Marie-Anne-Clara Méthot (Pierre-Jean-Guillaume and Marie Mercier). The father was then names Albert Duguay.

JPJ

Hi Jean Pierre: In answer to your question, Abel Duguay married Leocadie Gamache. Abel was the son of my Great Grand Parents Romain Duguay and Sophie Loiselle. It is my understanding that he lived to be 106 years of age and married a few times. He had nine children with Leocadie. Do you know if the above is true and if so who else did he marry and who are his children with his various spouses. I do not know who Roland is I do not have him in my lineage.

I have not been able to get any information about him.

My grandmother (Aleata Strickland ) married and she had a daughter Anne that married a Robichauld.

My grandmother lived and died in N.B. She was born in Newfoundland and had my father and gave him up for adoption in Pictou N.S. in 1929. She named my father Gerald.

On the adoption papers it stated that my grandfather lived in N.B. but we don't have any information about him.

Hope to hear from you again.

Elizabeth

My grandfather was Gerald Duguay from N.B. I am trying to find the correct line. He would have been in Pictou N.S. in 1928, maybe working. It is a long shot but I found a Bridget Duguay married to Joseph Tripes from Campbelton living in Pictou. I thought there may be a connection. If you have any information I would greatly appreciate it. I am frustrated because I cannot start this line as I have to get the right Gerald Duguay. My father was adopted but Gerald Duguay from N.B. was his father.

Elizabeth

Lowell: Bella died approx. 1988 according to Jay Duguay. She was in her 70's. She married a Mr. Goupil and they had three children. Jay is going to check his paperwork for more info but says he has been very busy at work lately. I found more info on Ulric who was also Aldreic. the doc I found states he was born Sept 1 1890, your info says he was born Aug. 30, 1880 which is 10 years difference. He died April 1963 in Florida. Jay seems to think he died in Athol Mass. but the rest is consistent. He still has aunts alive in Athol. He is going to check and get back to us.
Thank you so much Lowell!
The 1910 US census lists her age as 25, and the 1930 census as 45, which would put her year of birth at abt 1885. There is a Soc. Sec. death index record for a Catherine Michaud giving date of birth as May 2, 1888 and death as March 1964. I am not certain this is the same Catherine Michaud yet.
Catherine Babin m. Honore Michaud June 9, 1902 at St. Louis, Fort Kent, ME.
Honore s/o Raphael Michaud and Adele Pelletier.
Catherine is listed as "Kittie" in the Maine marriage record. She is listed as "Katie" on Honore's WW I Draft registration card.

I will have to check with my father-in-law to see if he can verify the death info.

I have info on her children as well if you are interested.

Thanks again!
Laura

Irenée Duguay m Françoise Gallien

Sorry Zane: I think I inadvertently erased my reply. Will post again. I am a relatvie of Rene Duguay and Francoise Gallien.
My Great Grandfather was Romain Duguay and Grandmother Sophie Loiselle. My Grandfather was their son Francois Xavier Duguay who married Sarah Elizabeth Gagnon, Gutcher, daughter of Zephirine Romain and Abraham George Gutcher.

I have gathered a great deal of info on the Duguays if you wish to share. I am looking for info on Abel who lived to be 106 years of age and died in 1974. Also looking to find out more about Laurent Duguay who supposedly died in Bonfield in late 1800's but was found on 1901 census in Gaspe.

How are you related to the Duguay line. Please email me at jhiscoc@telus.net

Still looking for any information on an H. Du Gay, a physician who came to Millerton, Fresno County, California, in 1852 or 1853. My cousin William Dugay Cruikshank was born in Fresno County in 1856, and I am searching for Willliam's mother's identity.
