Classification: Query
Thomas..Young fella.
As the Patriarch of the "Duhig" family in Western Australia.
I have been given the pleasure of answering your queiry.
Regarding name/location of overeas/relocated cousins from the "old country".

Scattered around the continent of Australia are branches of our family, situated in such cities & areas, as............
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, State of Tasmania and of course here in Perth.
The Perth branch beginning as recently as 1963 with the migration from London (UK) of my younger brother Terrence William, his 1st wife Mary and their son John.
Followed in 1968 by our sister... Patricia Mary,
(Married to Michael Tapenden) with her then, two daughters.

As for myself.......
Following a period of 24 years, serving in the Royal Naval Fleet Air Arm. My wife Elizabeth, our four sons and I,
migrated to Perth from Norfolk in England, to join my now fully established Brother & Sister.

Let us see.
My father...Thomas Peter Duhig (1905-1979), was third son of my Grandparents William (Born 1863) and Elizabeth (nee Wood)
They, rearing a family of four. Namely.....
Elizabeth. Glenn, Cornelius and Thomas Peter.
Grandfather William (1863-193?), was the son & 5th child of Jeremiah Duhig (1830-???) & Mary Cahill. (1830-????)
Both originating from County Limerick, Ireland.
They, migrating (only to become Paupers) to London (Poplar) around 1850,
Jeremiah, (My Great Grandfather) being the son of a
John Duhig (1800-????).
Jeremiah and Mary had the following children..
James.(born.1855) Margaret (1856) Anorah (1858) Mary (1861)
Wiliam (1863) & John (1866).
Perhaps, your own ancestry goes back to either James/John?
One of these sons, (James?), migrated to Australia in the late 1800s where were raised another large family. some of whom now are Doctors /Architects etc . One of whom became Catholic "Archbishop Duhig" of Brisbane during the early part of the last century. (His Biography is still in print).
Anyway. As you see, the "Duhig`s" originated in County Limerick (Ireland) and migration to England/London (Poplar E.14 in particular)
Mid 1800s
So young (Can I say that?)..Thomas, this could be the first installment of a future exchange of messages?
When, I can send a copy of the family crest /history of same.
and other details my family have collected.
Thanks for your message and incidently, I Peter Thomas, married Elizabeth Garton of Leicester England in 1950. I was born in London September 14th 1930.
Have four sons......
Glenn (1951). Peter Alan (!953) David Stephen (!954) & Paul Terrence (1957).
ten Grandchildren and currently, two great Grandsons.
Goodbye cousin. God be with you and yours.
Regards & love from perth.
Western Australia.
