Mary-Jill,
Thank you for your message. I would be very interested to know if we are related. However, it cannot be in the way you suggested.
Archbishop Duhig was christened James, being the second youngest of the children of John Duhig (1838 -1876) and Margaret (nee Barry). The others were Timothy (called Edward in Australia) - my grandfather, Martin (settled in Chicago and many descendents), Elizabeth - married Frank Cullen in Brisbane, Australia, Mary (did no marry), Patrick (also settled in Chicago with many descendents) and Ellen who joined the Good Samaratin Convent.
Their family home ( tenant mud cottage cottage) was at Killila on the Mt Plummer Estate a few miles from Broadford, Co. Limerick. After John's death in 1876 the family were evicted and moved to Broadford. My grandfather went to work in England to earn enougfh money to bring the family to Brisbane Australia in 1883-5 - and Martin to Chicago. Patrick subsequently followed him from Brisbane.
I have no information about John Duhig's parents or siblings. He does not seem to have been born in Broadford. Margaret Barry is said to have come from Tullylease Co. Cork but not record there of her baptism or of her parents marriage.
I have a full family tree giving all descendents of John to 2002. You do not appear.
